Are any of the engine internals being changed as well? It would seem prudent with that kind of boost...
A turbo for the MC and now the MCS - the same week! Kudos to PROMINI and M7.
On the CAI though, I would think that black would be the last color to shield it with due to heat absorbtion. Let's get some miles on these turbos and see what transpires. Pushing the envelope... Good job!

I wouldn't really worry about the MCS, the interals are really stout and I believe they're forged (it might not be able to handle sustained 25 psi runs, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ran at like 17 psi on pump gas). On the other hand, I can see plenty of MC owners buying a turbo kit, bolting it on and going out and blowing their car up and then trying to sue the company.....we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Only troubles the MC will have is if you decide to get optimistic on boost. Stock could handle maybe 10-11psi. MCS uses lower compression pistons so boost can be higher, more 15-20psi. But there are trade offs to either (power delivery @revs, torque, lag)
I agree, they'll be some idiots...
I wouldn't limit it to the MC owners tho.

The intake that is on the car is more of a in house mold - it is not the final design but was done to get the car running to test other components on this system and also for the Roundup show we had at the shop. A full intake setup for this car is still in the works...and I have not included any of those in the photos yet.
It looks pretty sweet, and it might not be half bad considering he said the power is on early and there isnt much lag, I'd still like to see the chart for it to see what kinda curves it's got.
The SC intercooler is gone from it's original location, allowing for airflow from the original IC intake to pass down around the turbo and exhaust. At least while you had some speed on - this should keep this pocket behind the engine cool enough. Some good insulation on both the pipes and the body should be in good order for those times when sitting in traffic.
Carefull pulling that oil filter with a hot motor.
Just guessin'

man that thing is beautiful....
will it work with like aftermarket parts that are already out like lets say the exaust and stuff?
looks like its gonna cost a pretty penny... so pretty and so shiny that it'll end up blinding you

We tried it at 25psi. We are running the car at 18psi. The car runs much stronger than our modified Supercharged cooper S. The black manifold is not exposed to any real heat source. It has much better air circulation than before, and the air scoop on the hood is moving a lot of air over the entire engine. Overall intake temp is lower than a Stock Cooper S since the intercooler is much larger and has a more direct air flow from the front grill.

>>Well there is some room back if there if you've never looked. That is a monster though. Wonder if it has any lag. Wonder if there has to bae engine bay mods too...
The Turbo we are using is a Garrett T3. This unit is a good entry level unit. Its small, easy to fit in small spaces. Lag is actually almost "0". Turbo lag is not always due to turbo size, yes too big and you get lag. But exhaust manifold (header) design is a bigger factor. If you look at most turbo manifolds they look more like a simple pitch fork. The 2 outer tubes aim directly at each other and the exhaust pulses blow directly at each other and cancel each other out. Same with the center 2 cylinders. A well built header, aims the pulse at the tip of the exhaust impeller wheel for fast spool up.
I have to stop now, If I tell you all the secrets you won't need me anymore! kinda like job security.

>>Any change in oil quantity required for this?
>>
>>What about keeping the engine bay cool in that region?
I'm not sure if you can see, but we have an oil cooler below the radiator. We have removed that silly little oil hear exchanger and we are now running lines to that same block. The oil capacity increase by about 1 quart.
The original hood scoop is letting cold air into the entire engine bay. And the turbo is also equipted with a water cooler center section. That works real well to keep the exhaust side of the turbo from over heating the compressor side.

>>Anything on the price of the kit? Also, what kind of bhp #'s looking at? I would think that if it is cheaper than the Cooper Works, and gets you good power I would do the istall on my S.
We should have dyno results soon, we have a trade show to attend in 2 weeks, so time is getting close. Once we get back from that, we will get prices for the components needed. Supersprint will build the headers and down pipe, the rest of the system to the back will be all supersprint also.
