Drivetrain Revolution MINI Works (Jan) Tune Event - Limerock, CT
Ok everyone, another kinda-sorta update...
I been in talks with Jan, the tune will not be at actual Limerock Park, but rather in the surrounding area...I'm trying to get a little more information from Jan regarding how far he is willing to travel away from Limerock to do the tune for us. More to come in the following days...
May be closer to people than you may think...especially NYC and PA people...

I agree with everyone who says $800 is a bit steep. Jan came out to Chicago last spring, costs were about $500. I am kicking myself for missing it. Saw this post and got all excited. But $800 is a bit too rich for my blood.
It seems you have an R53, the 800 price tag is for the R56. I'm sure if you came out he would not charge you 8 hundo. Just an fyi if you didn't see that.
Killerfox has put me in touch with shops and has linked me to many options...I will be giving Jan a call tonight.

Ok, I been in touch with 3 dyno shops thus far.
EPL Tuning in Stratford, CT, Jannetty Racing in Wallingford, CT, and The Shop in Norwalk, CT.
EPL I haven't gotten prices yet because I haven't gotten a hold of them, but they are major tuners and are also trying to tune the R56. Jannetty said they would charge Jan 1k for the usage and 50 per car that didn't have a wide-band 02 sensor. Jannetty is a very sophisticated shop that would basically give us the most in depth data with their lasers, wind tunnel testing, and accurate AFR machines. The Shop in Norwalk utilizes a Dyno Dynamics and would charge 100 to 150 extra per car for their AFR equipment, but they are also much more generous on how many pulls you will get.
Special thanks to Killerfox for doing a lot of research for us - he has been instrumental thus far in finding places and letting me know :applause:
I emailed Jan and if he doesn't respond today, I will call him.

If Jan doesn't mind the 1k, my vote would go to Jannetty, they have a top shop over there and the added bonus is that its close to LRP if he wants to go check the races that weekend...
If he had a new JCW tune, I'd make that drive in a heartbeat. Can't seem to find anyone that can verify if Jan or anyone has a JCW tune.
Mark
well not quite........ you need the NEW Genius to be able to do it

I have more maps now, time for more testing.... need to find some time to do it
Jan check your PM
I guess for the 100th time, you are wrong.
Eventually, someone will get one... Jan, is the new Genius for a handheld OBDII to tune?
Thanks,
Mark
You keep saying it but I have yet to see one posted result. I read a post with someone saying they had it done but it wasn't a complete tune... (I forget the reason why but it was half done)

We have already tuned a JCW, we are still working on more maps for the final tuning of it. It still made good power
The Genius is the new flash tool from Dimsport needed to communicate with the new ECUs on the R56. It's also needed for the 135i/335i etc
I'm sorry, I'm confused. I realize the Genius is the flash tool needed but if you've already tuned a JCW (or any R56 for that matter) Do you not have it already?
If not, how did you tune it?
Also, is there going to be an OBDII flash tool available? If so, any idea when?
Thanks,
Mark

From speaking with Jan on Monday, the tune is going to take place in Norwalk, CT at THESHOPCT.com
Jimmy, the shop owner is a great guy and has everything Jan would need to tune the R56 and R53 properly. Jimmy has flown people to his shop before. He had a Corvette tuner come from Texas when he was the only guy tuning the new 06(I think, can't remember what year he told me), just so he could get it done and learn the mapping. (Jimmy has a crazy vette he runs at the track.)
Jan said he is still confirming travel plans and arrangments, but it is still set for the 21st of May. Hopefully he can fly into White Plains, that way it would be much easier for me to pick him up.
