The map which is responsible for controlling the variable valve timing (VANOS).

ah ha..that's what I figured VVT stood for So, do these new Maps just add to what Jan has already done? Do you keep adding new maps when they come out or does he need to do an entire new tune? Probably the later...

Thump,

I'm curious too. Are the new tables not available at the time for VVT or does Jan come up with newer and better tables?

I'm asking because I don't want to get a tune and find out that I have to go back two months later because there is a better map or changes made?

I do enough of that crap upgrading software in my cell phone....always something new and improved...

Enlighten me please.

Thanks,

Mark

To answer for you, the maps were not available at the time of the tune I received last week. The VVT map is going to make a huge difference because it can tune in a much more efficient way, being able to really tinker with the vanos, Jan said it would make a much bigger increase in power over tune 1.5.

Some info on Variable Valve Timing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_valve_timing

Okay since I can't embed and I have no patience for it right now I'll just give you guys the links.

Let the videos load before you play them or they will be all choppy.

I guess the question for Jan is if you have tuned our cars already and you get the new map, do I need to spend another $800 for the update?

<--- yeah, what he said...

I'm assuming no (you know where that gets us) but more importantly, getting to where Jan tunes is difficult. I'm driving 7 hours to have him tune. I'd just as soon have him do the latest version of tuning then so I don't have to fudge with it any more.

Steve..im kind of pissed off about the boost levels set. Why are you running 17.5 and im only getting 15psi? thats not fair!!! at first i thought i was running like 16-16.5 , but i guess car was just in the stage of getting acquinted with the new software. no its constant 14-15 ONLY!!!! i smell conspiracy from Jans side to keep all the minis tune on same HP LEVEL :(

Just cuz you are seeing 14-15 a lot, doesn't mean your boost level has changed. I don't know if you've noticed, but the boost control in this car has a complete mind of its own...sometimes overboost will engage, other times it doesn't. Jan wants to eventually just get rid of the overboost feature all together, its a nusiance.

Yup, that's what I've always thought... Jan tries to keep some car's boost levels low so they can report lower numbers so people can be unimpressed with his efforts.

Passing gear.

Here is a picture of a data dump of my fiddling today. No RMW tune yet, I hope to see a little more boost after the tune.

I have a strong early 07 build and ECU.

Go here if you want to see detail.

Is that from a scanguage?

would you post a pic of it sorted by engine speed?

graphing it would be really cool too.
