Drivetrain CLutch and Dealer problems
CLutch and Dealer problems
I have an 06 MCS about 32K on it. I don't drive very rough and I don't launch the car or burn the clutch, but recently I have been having some problems. When engaging or disengaging the clutch pedal I can feel that it is not going very smooth. When I try to start of from 1st gear the clutch sort of stops at some points causing the car to jerk. The pedal feels as if the spring is getting stuck and does not respond.I don't it's anything with the hydraulic pump or anything. Sometimes when starting from 1st gear the car makes a really loud weird noise. It's hard to describe its loud and it sounds like something is wrong. It's not a metal noise and it's very brief. This takes place between 1500 and 2000 RPM'S. I went to the dealer (Patrick MINI) and they told me all of this is perfectly normal because the car is getting older and did not find a reason to do anything about it. The car is still under warranty until July
Is this a common problem among 06 MCS? Has anyone ever had this and what is the solution to fixing it. Would this be covered under warranty?

At a minimum your throw-out bearing and guide sleeve probably need replaced. Dealer will fight you on this, because its a lot of labor. Stand firm.

Dealers... LOL!! I have an 06 MCS, the clutch pedal "felt" ruff and jerky when pushing it in!! Like the linkage was dry and binding ( NO Linkage.. hydraulic release bearing..) and made noise!! Took it to the dealer and was told... there was a notice on the noisy jerky clutch and they changed the entire assy out!! Flywheel/pressure plate and slave... all with the new and updated version!! I had 34K on it at the time!!
Now it is smooth as glass... engagement rocks!! Find another dealer!! cool??

don't worry I have the same problems, stiffer clutch and loud sound. The sound is from the Flywheel. It is the time to change it. The same thread has discussed before if you want check this out https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tch-sound.html
Master slave cylinder, throwout bearing, pressure plate....
Most likely 1 of the three or a combo of them. Very common issue with the 53's...most dealers will replace the entire clutch assembly when this occurs. Try another dealer if you can. And if not, it will eventually give out...then you can say "see, I told you so guys...fix it now thanks"

Get it done BEFORE the warranty runs out. I bought my car 2 days after the factory warranty ran out. The dealership would not budge on the rattling flywheel even though it was obviously a problem before I bought the car.
Made an appoitment to change the clutch to a different dealer. I did the test. I put the car in 5th and gave it a little gas slowly letting go of the clutch. The car did not stal or jerk it moved smoothly. :-(
