Drivetrain R56 custom tuning by RMW
Why wait longer than necessary to enjoy your custom RMW tune while you wait for a machine YOU can use to flash between stock map and his map? (if one ever becomes available that doesn't cost thousands of dollars). If you have to take a long road trip to make one of the tuning parties, you'll get a long road trip home with the new tune.

break out your credit card since he has the tool (for him) and his maps are custom built for each car.

Do a google map search from Bahrain to wherever RMW resides
ack! You are worse off than me! My bridge only needs to be about 2500 miles.
I know....stop complaining! You live in Hawaii AND you have a Dimsport tuner there!! I'm not seeing the issue here....haha.

nuh uh!! I spent my time in Groton. In winter. It took me years to thaw out.
Remember it's $1100 EACH way - I think you'd be much better off using that money to have Jan install a bigger turbo and a tune
(I know you were joking =)That's the nice thing about being so far away - I can talk about Chris and not be impinging on Jan's business since he has more than enough work on the mainland for Chris to be considered competition way out here. Besides, Jan and Chris know each other now =)
At least I HOPE it's ok - Jan please let me know if you'd prefer I not talk about Chris in your thread!

Enjoy it though!!
Remember back when people were posting 20+lbs of boost with the unichip? Jan won't put more than 16.5lbs on a regular S right now because he said the regular S runs crazy lean when you go above that. He's working on figuring out how to adjust the A/F with more boost than 16.5 but the ECU is pretty complex.
I'm still waiting on the phone call - it's only ~2pm here right now.
it would be mild - just some timing advance probably. He doesn't even want to touch boost without a boost gauge installed. I like that he is cautious and a bit paranoid about doing something that would damage the engine.

! Too many tuners just try to get big numbers out of stuff and have no regard for safety or longevity. And yea I remember people bragging about how they spike at 21 psi with their Alta UniCrap....haha can you say ka booom? I always asked people with the UniChip if they ever saw their A/F's...no one ever seemed to know. Anyone still running a UniChip...I encourage you to take a look at your A/F's...it might surprise and scare you.
"Oh, but its Direct Injection!" <---
Just got back from Chris' shop for the mild blind tune. He said he advanced the timing a little, did something to the A/F and gave it a 5% boost boost.
He also said he raised the torque limiter although I'm not sure if it's the same one Jan said there is in first and second gear.
I need get a dyno scheduled and my boost gauge installed now for anything more aggressive.
Sadly I just took a short break from work to get it done and haven't gotten to test it yet since it was 1st and 2nd gear in traffic from his shop back to work.
I get off work in about 30 minutes and then after after another 30 minutes in heavy traffic I should have some open road. I don't know if my butt dyno is calibrated enough that I'll feel a difference but I'll post my impression in about 1.5-2 hours.

MM, do you even have 500 miles on your JCW?
It is good your willing to push the envelope. Does your guy store away your factory ecu settings on the Genius, should you have to go back to stock?
Keep up the reports and a dyno image when you get it. What dyno do you have access to in Honolulu?

This is when Adam should join in if its about the unichip (I have Alta's version)

Yes, the guy has the stock map stored. It takes only a few minutes to load a map. Also his shop is only about 2 miles from the dealer.
Trying to get a dyno scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday of next week. The shop said they were booked next week but he'd try to fit me in. There are a couple dynos to choose from but one reads the A/F from the wideband o2 sensor and one puts a sensor in the tail-pipe which isn't very good considering we have cats. I'll wait to use the one that measures from the o2 sensor.
As I suspected my butt dyno isn't calibrated enough to know how different it is now. It was great before the new map and it's still great. It pulls from 50-80 in 4th very strong. heck 50-80 in 6th ain't a slouch either.
That's the problem - no one has posted an accurate A/F when using the unichip. I used the dyno that measured from the tail-pipe when I got the 2007 dynoed with the unichip. It was reading A/F of 16:1 which is dangerously lean but then again how accurate was it since the exhaust had been through the cats? I'd trust Jan when he says the A/F gets dangerous above 16.5lbs of boost on a regular S. Obviously the JCW has something different in the ECU to cope with that since it runs higher than 16.5 lbs stock.

Went out and drove around the neighborhood a bit. The third gear 1/3 to 2/3 throttle response is definitely improved. Gotta be careful or it looks like I am deliberately trying to accelerate quickly.
It's almost too responsive if that's possible.

I just pasted 200 miles on the way home. I have a different philosophy for break-in than the manufacturer recommended method.
