Drivetrain Free Newman Camshaft competition...
PS. sorry Paul for going off topic
Visual smog testing, AKA saying a car isn't legal is ********....I don't care if I had turd power, if it could pass the exhaust test, it should be legal. I can't see why someone that had a decent attorney and could prove his smog legality wouldn't have this tossed. Burns me up that some F'ing idiot could look at my car and say it was illegal and my intentions were illegal as well. Heavy fines for modding and failing, sure...but a guy that puts together a well thought out car, with attention to detail that will pass smog and haul *** too. Isn't this what the high end production cars do???
You can thank all the tree huggers and global warming nut cases for this!
That's just BS...
Matt
You cant be to extreme with the tree hugging, after all you modded your car!
im talking more of the prius owners doing 55 in the left lane types
I actuall am....
but it's a little spoken of benefit of greater efficiencies: you get more power. I'm all for responsible modding, but I also maintian one can do it and still have clean exhaust. I'm also very data driven. If it's clean, who the eff cares how it's done, it's clean and that's what's inportant. If it's dirty, it's dirty, and you can run dirty with "factory" parts as well. The results are what counts.
Matt
ps, cool car. Yours was the one at AMVIV with the carbon fiber hood and "ripped" paint?

I heard that there is only about 10% of vehicles on the road that do any mods other then the CAI,and cat back stuff. So our numbers dont really make any type of impact on the inviroment at all.
Thanks for the compliment on the carbon hood. I just got the carbon hatch, that will be done by the end of next month
Isn't the time attack over?
If so, who won the cam?
BTW, I passed smog a couple weeks ago too. Funny thing was, one of the reference books listed my Mini as having an air pump! At least another reference book didn't list it, so it wasn't a problem that there wasn't one there....

I don't see Jan's name on this sheet...
http://www.redlinetrackevents.com/do...lts/Street.swf
...so i'm guessing nobody.
There are a couple MINIs at the bottom of the FWD section from MINIcorsa, but no time listed. I guess the stopwatch didn't go up that high.
At least one of the MINIs is posted before a non-SRT Neon.

How does that work ? did Susan get round the track further than Danny? its not like there in alphabetical order who didn't qualify.....
Or did they break them Fri / Sat ?
At least I qualified.......http://eurosportscompact.co.uk/report_2009r1.php
but then I only have to make 1/4 mile to get a ticket.
I suppose the bright side is that you can only improve at the next round, I was really looking forward to seeing a time as well.
Looks like Jan would of clean up with a sub 2.00.00 as well

EXCELLENT video //MZero
Looks like if you stayed for the weekend and eneterd teh Redline Time Attack you would of come a respectable 8th, shows how well the Mini's with a good driver can place.
Congrats
Thanks, I'm pretty pleased considering my mods. It still has room left too, I'm just not a perfect driver.
Yea, the Mini is a great car, and unbelievable platform. I imagine that with a perfect lap 2.09.0 could be had out of my current setup...but not much faster. I definitely could use more power, and grip is always needed, but with more grip I feel I'll start to find the limits of the suspension. Uggh...more money to spend
Remember everybody...this is my DAILY DRIVER

Danny's got the full RMW stuff on his car and Jan re-tuned it last week after they decided to drop it down to a 15% pulley for this long track.
Reading between the lines from Jan's comments in the "whats in the box thread" that Danny's current Laminova WTA system has trouble going past 3 laps and maybe thats why Danny's last dyno plot was done in 3rd gear.

Yeah that would be good as long as someone else was paying for the shipping, shipping 4 cars to Baton Rouge GA from the UK was bad enough and I wasn't paying for them.

just brilliant Randy.... why don't you tell us some more about your exhaust header experience.... I'm dying for another good laugh

What would make you think his time is safe?

Randy
As for exhaust knowledge I was the R in a small company called RAM performance products back in the early 80's . We built drag boat headers and OT headers for ski boats . My partner Mike Jenkins was the M thereby RAM was Randy and Mike
He was the engineer but as the primary sales person a lot of the info still sticks with me . Not a lot, as the 80's were a pretty wild time . Our primary competition was Bassett . As we were late to the game we had to have an edge . Ours was that we were 100% t 304 stainless and used a 3/8 flange instead of their 1/4 inch . Our biggest plus was our pulse timing which enabled the average flat bottom race boat to pull another 500 to 700 RPM. Based on that I can say without question this is 100 % WRONG

Makes no difference as they both dump into the same 4/1 collector.

Although I haven't talked to her about Sunday, Susan is an exceptional driver who consistently outperforms much higher powered cars and has only a tune, stock pulley, Cross coils, and R-comps. She drives because it is fun to do and has nothing to do with any of this BS except that she is friends with Danny and he works on her car. If she were to take a fully loaded MINI out there, I'm sure there would be something to talk about.
