No it wasn't a Mini . This little meet up gets about 300+ cars on a wed night but only a few Minis . On this particular occasion the LAPD sent in 6 motorcycle cops and 8 to 10 cars and surrounded the lot. Then as people left they inspected everyone and either directed them to the " get your ticket here " line or let them go . They were there for about 3 hrs and wrote perhaps 100 tickets which was entertaining for those of us standing around and watching . I have exhibited / attended about every police sponsored auto show etc. in the area so they usually cut the old man a break and leave me alone 
I don't think they will have the task force out again for tonights get together but it will be interesting to see

were you on R-comps? What mods did you have? I'm on street tires, Star Specs, mods listed in sig.
Is Danny going to be at the Speedventures event, not the Redline? I know this weekend is packed at BW, it would be cool to see another Mini out there on Friday! Especailly Danny. I'll be in the "Black" run group, effectively HPDE 3. Thanks for the warning though on Danny incase he an I are on the track at the same time

I know Danny will be running in the street class on street tires. We put a 15% pulley back on his car and retuned it for the track so he is down on hp from where he was. Being the first time there it will be fun to see what he runs

I never stepped on a track in my life! The only track closest to me is in another state. 
Oh, HA...lol, don't give me that much credit! Getting 3 seconds off will be hard enough. Now if I had R-Comps I might be able to do it. Also, if I had more power, I'm untuned with a 16%, JCW cai, and the borla exhaust...but thats all.

This really stinks, since I'll be at AMVIV, begrudgingly... instead of on the track.

It is at the In and Out on Tampa in Northridge. Just got back in, about 200 cars no police presence to speak of. They did their job last week though as there were about 100 less cars .

It is a combination of exhaust gas and a visual inspection. The question being raised here is more of how do some of the more obviously modified cars plan on passing the visual inspection whether at the smog station or during the ever more frequent hood popping situations by the local authorities . Our local gathering last week and 3 hoods popped and one car taken away on a flat bed. Granted I live in So California which is most likely the top of the list restriction wise.

Visual smog testing, AKA saying a car isn't legal is ********....I don't care if I had turd power, if it could pass the exhaust test, it should be legal. I can't see why someone that had a decent attorney and could prove his smog legality wouldn't have this tossed. Burns me up that some F'ing idiot could look at my car and say it was illegal and my intentions were illegal as well. Heavy fines for modding and failing, sure...but a guy that puts together a well thought out car, with attention to detail that will pass smog and haul *** too. Isn't this what the high end production cars do???
...Horray for Yavapai country. I registered my 2.5L S2000 there when I went to school at Embry-Riddle.
BTW...didn't quite make 2:09's, I ran a best of a 2:12.0xx recorded...but on my best session out something failed with the timing equipment for the run group. Looking back on my video that I take I timed out a run to be 2:10.xxx can get too accurate with video, but it is at least within the second. I'll try and get that lap up on Youtube sometime soonish
