Actually thinking onasled would buy RMW products if he got an answer is even more hilarious

He is more worried about looking cool instead of actually going fast
Having never finished a race in his show car must be really frustrating as his attacks on me have intensified lately

He needs a "on the edge tune".

Yes I'm a fanboy. Seen the results at real races.

Why cant we all mini lovers live in peace and harmony?? We all should have one goal
....ENJOY THE MINI....
Does it really matter what products we get? ermmm...IMO
.....NO......
As long as these X products makes the MINI more fun, then we all should support them all the way

Some people here want to bring a vendor down because they have an issue with them and their customers.

seems to me the truth always, always, always lies somewhere in the middle. jan probably could've mentioned the newman connection and onasled could've done a p.m. bringing this up now at the peak of jan's success is like calling obama a commie . true to some degree , but noone seems to care . so let's get back to shopping around for prices and looking at good info and deciding for ourselves .

Here is the problem telling who makes your specialty parts.....

people from NAM then call up the manufacturer and take up their valuable time complaining to them about everything including the weather. I'm sure the last thing Ken Newman wants to do is hear about the petty wars on NAM. He has cams to grind. Yes, these are the facts pure and simple.... as soon as people knew here who ground my cam the emails and calls started.

What does it matter where parts come from as long as you know they are of quality and a reputable parts manufacturer/vendor such as RMW is making them available? It's not palo uber selling ebay wheel spacers....

Boy, I'm trying to stay above the fray on this one, but I just can't let this one go for the sake of fairness. I once heard this comment, with minor variation, from Peter of M7 when it was learned his grilles were made by a domestic manufacturer and people tried to get them directly from them. A similar situation has occurred with regard to the manufacturer of Alta foam filters (Unifilter).

My point being, that manufacturers like to have special relationships with dealers and resellers, often to distance themselves from too many direct retail customers.

Back to normal transmission...

The entire automotive industry sub-contracts their pants off, yet you never hear the MINI being called a Tritec/Getrag/ATE/Delphi/Motorola/Bosch/etc., do you?

What's more important is the final product that has been thoroughly tested and proven, followed up with good customer service. That latter part can't happen anywhere but a sales outlet.

Here's a link to the last post of that thread. This one seems to be keeping within the guidelines (though, only skimmed it so far)

yes I read the entire thing and was waiting for a yes or no from Jan which never happened before everyone went nuts bashing each other for some reason. and now Jan has kinda answered the question

which I take as they are the same part but he has done some custom grinds and there will be more in the future. COOL! so I am satisfied. but im sure someone wants to bash someone else, or me, for something so... now I see why other boards warn to stay away from NAM.

And all of our Mini's are made by BMW!! From Chrysler power to Pug power. We truly live in a global village. Hopefully we can now return to more interesting and important matters and enjoy our cars.

Not that it matters one way or another, but the thread(s) weren't about WHERE the cams were coming from. They were about whether they were custom grinds for RMW. It's openly known that they're newman cams and I don't think anyone has an issue with that.

Onasled's question was about the custom grind itself, not the idea of sub contracting or sourcing parts from larger companies. Jan said he was offering a custom grind (from Newman) that Newman wasn't offering themselves. This makes sense, lots of companies work out deals like that with smaller tuning companies. There was some talk among others that suggested that the cams Jan was getting were no different than any other cam that Newman was selling (i.e. not custom). The question that was raised in the original thread is/was "which of these is true? did he have custom ones made for him previously?"

I don't care about this topic either way and I'm not trying to take a side... but if you're gonna post we might as well talk about the original topic rather than making it a conversation about where the parts came from.
