Huh... wow...what a price difference. Good to know, I almost paid 45$ for a set of used ones on NAM.

Thanks for the tip. How long do wires typically last?

I bought the 12 7000 Kingsborne set when I replaced the plugs on my 03 sometime after 65k. I don't think the cables needed to be replaced, but it was easy to do when I did the plugs and added peace of mind.

The site is legit. I bought from them in March of 2008. I was a little skeeved out when the confirmation email came from importpartsspec.com but they are the distributor and the wires were sent directly from Kingsborne in Cali.

FWIW I was at a dyno day this weekend with VWs, Audis, and MINIs and the only two cars that they had trouble getting an RPM signal from were the two MINIs. When I asked why, he said it was because they clamp on to the ignition wires and the stock wires on them were so well insulated and far better than what was being run by the other cars. Unless you get these for the colors, these aftermarket wires really provide no real performance benefit, and may even affect reliability.

Are you contridicting yourself here? First you say, " so well insulated and far better than what was being run by the other cars." Then you say, " provide no real performance benefit, and may even affect reliabilty." So what is it? I can understand that ignition wires will not effect HP. that can be read on a dyno, but I think the reason why they have a hard time being read by a clamp on, is that they are so well insulated, which has to be better, no, yes? I'm thinking, yes. Now there are claims out there, "Nology" that can be scrutinized. Plus, like you said, the color's are cool

If I read what he typed correctly: The stock ones are very well insulated, better than other cars, and the kingsborne ones would do nothing but change the color of the wire, and perhaps insulate worse. Ergo, both statements are correct and neither is a contradiction.

Thanks Basically what I was trying to say is that the OEM wires do a great job and you will get no real benefit from changing them to aftermarket performance wires other than the cool colors

And the fact if the engine catches on fire, the only thing to survive would be the firebraid covering !!!

I can't see how they would be worse at insulating, but maybe. Definitly better looking though.

The thing is mines are due for a change. I'm at 64K miles now. I'm changing them along with colder plugs.

I might change my plugs back to stock. The blue kingsborne ones I got years ago are all dirtied and one of the boots on the coil is torn, but it's held with electrical tape.

Someday, my car will be held together with duct tape, epoxy, and bailing wire...
