Drivetrain Rear wheel drive in an R53?
Anything can be done if you have money. I recall a rear wheel drive Metropolitan Nash at one of the Power Tours a few years back. The only thing you could see between the two rear tires was the differential.
holy crap i just peed my pants! if i suddenly woke up debt free with a pile o cash to spend on cars (in addition to buying a DB9 and a 911 turbo) I'd send the cooper off to be M3-a-fied!!!!!

I'm not sure there's one specific site for them, but you can search around for "Cooper S3". Team Qvick races/raced? them in the belcar series.

I always thought Minis would look great doing doughnuts and drifts around corners. I guess its kind of possible, but I like my E-brake the way it is now.
Schnell, If woke up with a bunch of money, that list of cars would be a little bit bigger than two. Although, those are good choices. I would pick a Vantage. Pretty much the same interior as a DB9, but quite a bit more nimble.

I found this
but it just makes you want more....
TOTALLY unrelated, but if you are curious as to what CAN be done, check this out... (take note at the 1:20 mark, and again at ~ the 3:05 minute mark...):
For those who don't speak German, it's a BMW X5 stuffed with a Formula 1 V-12.....

why not just stick the current engine in the back????
its been done in the old mini.
also why not fit a diffrent engine to?? how about a 600bhp 1.8T audi engine?? or a K20/24?? or the Volvo 2.5T engine??
i think front engines rear wheel drive would be difficult.....
Chris.

If anyone is ever serious about wanting to build one of these, or anything the like, then let me know. I'd seriously consider doing it for ya. Your really talking about 50% tubular frame.
Though this Mini never really worked so good. Poor suspension design mostly.

Reason to stay BMW is usually race rules. Can't mix band x with brand y.
