Has anyone broken..

Has anyone broken the bushing that the shifter sits in?I was too rough when I was installing my ssk yesterday and broke it, I called the dealer and they said I could only order the complete shifter assembly for $226.36..I found it on Pelican Parts for 151.50 but I still can't believe that we can't get the bushing by itself..Does anyone know a way to go about getting the bushin alone?

any help is greatly appreciated
Myke

bummer, can you fix/glue it? Find one in a bone yard? maybe post a pic and someone could tell us how to repair it.

When I did my B&M install a couple years ago, I did the same thing - broke the bushing. I had to bite the bullet & purchase a whole 'nother shifter assembly. Sucks!

Here is a somewhat out of focus shot of the plastic insert that provides the support for the shifter ball. Is this the "bushing" that broke?

Its hard to believe something this cheap isn't offered seperately. It would be easy for any mechanic to break, only it is probably rarely taken apart.

A little off topic, but I recently tried to buy the cap on the radiator header tank, only to find it's only sold with the tank, complete from the dealer. So this doesn't come as a surprise to me...sorry.

I just wish that the entire plastic piece was offered in metal so it would really stiffen up the assembly. Somebody needs to make some serious cash off of that idea because I would pay some dough for that. It would be the final missing link in making the mini shifter very mechanical and like it was cocking a gun versus the playschool feel that the car comes from the factory with.
