Are you going to apply for a patent for the design?

I'm thinking about it as there has been no exhaust to quiet the sound of a highly modified MINI

i think you should, and then take your idea to mini and sell it lol jk, but i was actually thinking earlier that it would be kind of neet if in a couple years we all fot to see a mini cooper RMW as an option of a car, expensive, but factory warranted with the choice of the 2.0l stroked engine or the 1.6 l, with all the wonderfull engine add-ons and the such. mayby only a limited edition or something though.

that would be something that could be doable, would just need to find a warranty company to underwrite it.

How about keep the 1.6 NA standard on coopers then add a supercharger/turbocharger to make it a Works Cooper. Cooper S would come standard with 2.0L stroker TVS....dont know what a Works S could have though....hmmm

What about a roots sc/turbo for works cooper then 1.6L TVS standard on cooper s with the 2.0L stroker TVS as the works cooper s?? Yeah now that would be killer. Definitely a very fine definition between the different levels. Boy that would be really expensive though!! I'll start saving now!

I can't believe we are even discussing this......imagine!?!?!?!

I would imagine if that were the case then the Works Cooper would rather have the 1.8l NA Stroker. And not to rain on anyone's parade but these engines are for the R50/R53 right? Not the current model R56?

Considering that this MINI (SC) is no longer made, the odds are zero. AND you think Bimmer would allow a fullest blown RMW car w/ warranty? They would dial Jan back and then you would have a JCW which is already available.

So where are we at with the rattle/drone/noise vibration?

I can tell you what not to fix the drone/rattle with...

Harder Exhaust mounts. I put in some aftermarket Subby ones that match up but are made from a harder compound. Eh, while it killed the drone it made the entire system louder somehow. Even the burble and pop is louder.

So it was just a mix of different garden varieties of exhaust rattles (i.e. heat shields, ect...).

Thats good news.

So far, that seems to be the case. There is definitely a different level of resonance occurring, which is to be expected with such a free-flowing design... and that exacerbates any tendencies of the car to rattle... though it's *possible* that the stiffer flex joint of the RMW shorty and the shifted engine position in my auto led to the weld joint breaking loose on my OEM exhaust. But no harm done... better than new now.

i am still un- fixed

last two things to try are a swap to oem cat back, or another aftermarket exhaust

but need to tie in with some other "jobs" as my tuner is not local so its not always easy to leave the car with them

have got a camera mount now, so will try and film my shakes this weekend

my problem is solved..

it seams that the support brace under my car was loose, that was making the rattle. it's amazing how you overlook something so stupid like that.

as far as the vibration coming from my exhaust just increased my idle to 900 rpm...that's it.

hope that will help someone.

After MANY times under the car mine is still there. I really don't know what else to do. It is only happening at 2200 and 3200 rpm and it is loud. I guess I just might have to stay above that range at all times .
