Any correlation between types of intakes you folks are running, who have the vibration?

I don't think so. Seems to be many types. I'm running a JCW. But I can't see how that's gonna make a difference...

I removed the upper heat shield today and it didn't seem to stop the mild buzzing above 6k. Next, I will try the area around the resonator....

BTW, it's amazing how quickly you adapt to something. The first couple of days, it felt uber quick, now I'm used to it. Also, the header, which seemed so loud to me the first few days, doesn't seem as loud anymore.

Actually this phenomenon is well researched. It is very common and explains a lot of "placebo" effects as well as "butt dyno" assessments. I guess it's why people like measurements and the experimental method--and why people get PhDs.

As to my earlier post, would one or two of these benefit the vibration? It's the piece attached to the side of the right pipe. This is a BMW 328 muffler-

This is why an Aston Martin DB9r would cure everything!I promise not to get used to it. ...sorry,off topic.

Hmmm... harmonic damper... might do the trick... wonder where I can get something like that.... I could weld it on and try it...

Big improvement!

Although it was a pretty big (and spendy) change, I replaced my Milltek with a JCW exhaust today. Huge difference Not only is it, much, much quieter, but the resonance is gone. I still get a tiny “roughness” @ around 2.2k through 3k, it’s nothing like the vibration and rumble in the seat that I had previously. It still sounds “authoritative” when I get on it, but much more civilized. Now I can actually enjoy the header!

I found a loose screw/washer on holding together two heat shields right next to the collector and thought for certain that was the culprit of my buzz.....nope. Check all the heat shields around the resonator and center brace and everything was tight and rattle free.......the search continues.

I just stopped by my local GREAT custom exhaust shop and talked with the guru there. He agreed that adding a small resonator to the mainpipe will probably do the trick. He's ordering a small magnaflow and I'll hopefully get it installed next week. We'll see what happens. If this doesn't solve everything, I may get him to build me a full custom one-sided cat-back.

Shorty header installed today with a Magnaflow exhaust. I am getting the same vibration. I don't have anything to compare it to except Intense's vibration and mine isn't harsh at all but you can feel it.

Basically that it's tough for him to diagnose if he can't find a car locally that has the issue - which he can't so far...

To be fair... I'm not sure everyone here is having the *same* issue... there's likely a whole spectrum of rattles and vibrations that get unleashed when you put a free-flowing equal-length header on... I think it's just finding the resonant frequency of some of these exhausts, which wasn't really getting pushed with the OEM header... We'll see if my added resonator makes a difference...

Fair play... presume he's tried it on his car then as that was gonna be my next question.

Has anyone tried running it de-cat to see if the problem goes away or is it a one piece manifold and cat?

No worries... if adding a magnaflow resonator to the mainpipe doesn't kill it... I'll have an excuse to get the dude build me a sick one-sided custom exhaust...

I am getting the same vibration as you describe, and the same vibration that Intense is getting. I wonder if the Magnaflow resonator is going to make the difference. Intense installed a 21 inch Magnaflow resonator to his Invidia exhaust and it didn't cure it. I have a 19 or 20 inch Magnaflow resonator on mine and it sure doesn't cure it. It'll be interesting to see...
