Alta vs. Cravenspeed 15% pulley?

My first performance mods are going to be a 15% pulley and a cold air intake. Getting them installed on Wednesday. The shop has given me a choice between Alta or Cravenspeed on the pulley. Any difference between the two? Advantages of one over the other? Also he's offering Alta vs. K&N on the intake. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Really, it comes down to name brand. Kind of like brand loyalty. You can pick either one. I myself have an Alta 15%, however there was no specific reason for my picking it. It just happened to be the one Detroit Tuned was able to get at the time. I suggest you look into which company you might want to "represent" and go that route. I haven't heard much about pulleys from any company failing or disintegreting at high RPMs. So just choose which one YOU want.

Pulleys and CAI (my opinion)

FWIW, i mixed and matched,15% SC pulley and 2% Crank pulley.Reason, i met Kellen(Craven) at the Dragon one year and he seemed (and later found out) he's a stand up honest guy, passionate about his product,so i went with his SC pulley.Later on i was thinking about a 2% Crank pulley and there was an Alta on here in the market place (new in box) for 1/2 price including shipping,so i just grabbed it,i've had no problems with either. As far as CAI,i went with DDM,in my opinion, the best and best customer service.Give Dave a call and he'll fix you up.
Good Luck,
Bill

1-Right now the Craven pulleys are a good price.
2-Not that there is anything wrong with the V2 pulley, but I just don't personnel like the clamping system

When it comes to CAI you might head over to market place and see what is there. There is both a DDM and a Alta system

You might also consider the dealers that are close to you in your area.

Thanks for all the input. I've decided to go with the Alta CAI and the Craven pulley. Getting both installed tomorrow, and will probably get the JCW exhaust as well. Do I need to flash or replace the ECU to maximize performance with these mods?

You probably wouldn't want to reflash it unless you have the jcw injectors, i'm not an expert so that might not be the case. I would wait and get a tune from Jan, then you would be getting maximum performance from your mods.

no need for flash. regarding the pulley, i too am not crazy about the v2 clamp set up....but haven't heard of any failures. otherwise 15% = 15%

He runs Revolution Mini Works. Imho he has some of the best aftermarket mini parts around. He also does custom ecu tuning sessions. As you might or might not know, "canned tunes" dont get you maximum hp, each car is a little different. He custom tunes the ecu for your car specifically. Do some searches on here and youll find how many people love his products and get his tune.

You should also go done one to a colder plug after the 15%.

The JCW or 380 injectors is a good next move.

Forget the flash tune. Jan Tune. You can search NAM for Jan Tune or RMW and read for yourself.

Where are you located? State?

I'm in Upstate NY. How would a Jan Tune work, exactly, for someone in the east?? Do I have to send him my ECU?

Jan does dyno tunes. Right now Jan has to come to your state he can not remote tune yet. I believe he requires 10 people as a min, so basically one has to see if you can get enough people together to make this happen.
