My car feels top to bottom way better...
I have:
Alta 15%
Invidia Exhaust
JCW Airbox w/ Madness Filter

Initial Pull: 184.1hp @ 6816 RPM
Final Pull: 200.8 @ 7200 RPM
The Torques are 12.7lbft higher at the high end and 9lbft at the low end...

Makes a world of Difference...

Thanks Jan!!!

My early `03 has 118,000 miles on it (76,00 of that in the last 18 months ), so I'm happy with 192whp @ 6000rpm. Jan said it would have made 200 +/- @ 7000 rpm except that the SC and motor are showing their age at that speed.
Time to save for the stroker motor.....
Jan - Thanks again for all your efforts!

2003 (9/02 build) MCS 68k miles
  • JCW intake
  • Miltek Cat back
  • RMW “shorty” header
  • RMW big valve head
  • RMW cam
  • 440cc Injectors
Numbers on the last Seattle tune were:
TQ 162.7 @ 3853
HP 178.2 @ 6635

This time, unsurprisingly things got a lot better:
TQ 177.3 @ 5320
HP 234 @ 7600

Quite a happy camper here
Now I just need to quieten it down some – it's a little on the loud side

The dyno sheet:

Thanks Jeff, i'm very pleased with where the car is now. And to think, all it took was throwing money at it

First, I'd like to thank Rorik & ClintTheMiniOwner for putting this together, and especially to Jan, I still can't wipe the grin off my face!

Initially on the first pull my car was running very lean, this was attributed to my JCW header which was installed from when the car was new and Jan figured the dealer never re tuned it assuming the ECU would relearn. Throw in some of Jan's magic and he gained 12HP and a whopping 22 ft lbs TQ @ approx 2,400RPM. Then he threw in a set of Brisk plugs, a few more pulls and tweeks... now 32.6 ft lbs TQ increase at 2,400RPM and a 21.6 HP gain! Needless to say I was very happy and loving the TQ at low RPM a huge seat of the pants kick. I'll try post the read out's when Jan send's me the pdf. ALso much much smoother throughout the rev range. Thanks again Jan

Stock JCW motor with JCW factory header & exhaust, ITG replacement filter:

175.8HP @ 6558RPM - 159.6TQ @ 4375RPM

Now:

196.2HP @ 7400RPM - 167.5 TQ @ 3711RPM

Here is my chart...

Although the Torque Numbers in the boxes arent the actual overall torque, we were looking at the high end torque comparison when the screen got printed... Overall Torque number is at 173.55, which wasnt that much of a gain, but the gains were on the low end and the high end...

My wife said she could even tell a difference!!!

Thanks again Jan!!!

Jan,

I am planning to get your shorty header to complement my IE cat-back but I read here that putting a header (JCW) will lean the car. I had your tune with 15% pulley, 380 cc injectors, CAI, stock 1-ball and gave 194 whp @ 6740 rpm & 169 ft-lb @ 4180 rpm.

I believe that with your header and my IE cat-back will give me more HP & TQ but would not like it if it does really run lean. Will I need a re-tune? Will I gain anything without a re-tune? Thanks.

I don't have a scanner. All I got is the print-out from James but I will look for one.

I'm really appreciating the change to the traction control sensitivity...

I figured the new power (thanks Jan!) would be effectively useless over the winter here in the wet northwest, but with the changes Jan made, it's actually quite effective now from 2nd gear onward even in the wet. First gear is still useless as things happen way too fast for the computer to catch before it's too late.
