Drivetrain RMW's "Guess what's in the box?"
Yep, he'll be faster in the straights when he puts it on. I see your point; I just think if you give all of the credit to power and the car, if there's ever a day when the same car with less (or inferior) equipment is quicker at the track, then the answer will most likely be to blame driver skill. It sounds like a contradiction to me, that's all. Like I said - I think it's effective marketing, but I don't have to tell you that, do I!
For me, I'll spend my money on other stuff because at my very low level, I can still catch more powerful cars on the straights by simply exiting the last turn at a slightly higher speed.

some parts are proven winners.... other's aren't so proven
for example Larry's car with a JCW pulley puts down more power than most competitors cars with cylinder heads , intercoolers, cams, header etc etc
I'm taking nothing away from Larry's driving ability because I know he has done SCCA in the past but at some point you still need power to keep up. I tuned his car and have seen the numbers. I have ridden in his car. It's a sleeper. Just think if he put the coilovers on it that I sold him about 8mo ago
sometimes when I hit hard in the chicane. You go slightly airborne at 110+mph
Nothing where it ever ripped it up. I use custom built spacers to get everything squareNeed to get the oil lines made for the kit. That's on the table for tomorrow
it's NOT about how much money you spend.... it's how you spend it

And I'm trying to figure out HOW to spend the money I don't have. When push comes to shove, I always end up springing for the track time instead of the mods. Oh, and then I spring for new rotors because they constantly warp due to the heat and lack of direct cooling. Larry's got the right idea with his brake kit! Big, fat, vented rotors.
My intention was not to take this off the topic of your TVS SC - as I stated, I think you've got a real winner there for many people looking to replace and upgrade at the same time if it ends up that way.
mb
No doubt - he definitely hustles that thing around. As my instructor said this weekend, "granted, HP will help you on every single track there is, but it's not the only way to go fast on some tracks." This is probably OT, but Thunderbolt was cool (to me) because it was lengthy but it really didn't favor the high HP cars.

get the brake duct kit.... it works wonders
wheels.... Motegi Track Light 2.0s
Hoosier 225/40/17"s
NO WEIGHT REDUCTION.... all completely STOCK.....actually weighs more as I have a W2A in the car
when you have 262whp/234tq.... who needs to take out weight?
if you look at Madness's best time with a pro driver in their turbo car on the same track it put down 1:31
I ran the farthest you can around the track....1.8mi
on the last track day I ran 1:28xxx on 5 laps and multiple sub 1:30s
when you take out the warm up laps you can see every run was 1:30 or under
I did 1:28 in only 5 track days.... I went 1:30 in 2 track days.... go figure

I saw some video of you in another section here on NAM. You car moves alright!
I hope to get some track experience next year at the earliest. My darn baby came out of my wife premature and nixed autocrossing/tracking for me this summer. He's doing swell now though.
And please keep the 'Guess what's in the box' blower bolt-on project moving along!

Sweet wheel/tire set with a wide stable stance you've got there Jan! Stock LSD or aftermarket LSD?

STOCK DIFF
it does have a Clutchmasters stage 4 , 4puck....
I'll try and get better resolution on the film , it's actually very clear but the compression was bad.
Don't worry the blower is getting CAD drawings done as we speak
That's where you've got them-with your light weight stock diff! With all the grip vs torque output, how long will your diff pin and spider gears last?
Please upload higher quality film too!
I'm happy to see CAD progress!

Driver, we did use a pro driver like everyone else at the event. Our driver never ran on that track before so it was all new to him. I believe this is your home track Jan and you know it i[FONT="]ntimately. During the competition we had one 20 minute testing session in the morning and 3 laps to get the best time in the hot afternoon. Morning practice lap times were easily a few seconds better for everyone. Again not bad for someone who has never driven the car or course before.
You also mentioned weight of the car. Ours probably weighed the same as yours in the end seeing as it has a full cage, massive fuel cell and was built up for endurance racing.
All in all we were very pleased with having the fastest and most reliable fwd car at this event and that car is still doing lapping days and competitions today.
Call it what you will Jan but after 2 Car and Driver Magazine Superfour Challenge Events and 3 Eurotuner GP Cups over the years we still seem to be the only MINI tuner invited to participate, I think that says a lot. Let us know when your invited to compete in something like this, we would love to come and watch you run.
Congratulations on your excellent lap times Jan, you sound very pleased with yourself

thanks George... want a rematch?
I have a total of 5 track days.... I ran 1:30 on the 2nd track day EVER....
you don't think a World Challenge driver is a better driver than me?

Woohoo! Is this a battle to the death? the only rules are whoever loses, dies...hahaha how about that for Darwinism... but in jans defense hes running the stock s/c, i think that makes up for the tires... R56 vs R53 sounds like a good matchup!
LOL... we don't make excuses... Our pro driver went 1:27 on R compound street tires in a 1.6L with the RMW head, injectors and tune. Did I mention stock JCW pulley?
The car is his every day car
I wonder what he would run with my car?

I hope it happens. Whatever the outcome it'll be good. Time to start looking for a plane ticket.
...But seriously Jan, Shouldn't you be working on fitting the Super Charger to the R53's and grinding more heads and cams? Get back to work
I need more power
Your threads are always full of entertainment.

Damn
I've been away for a few days and missed all this stuff and even guys talking about my car (thanks mbcoops). So when is the shootout. That would be very cool.
Jan
Get the oil cooler done. Me want one bad.
And yes. I know. Get the damn coilovers in.
mbcoops. get your plan in order- Way's ducts are very nice from the guys I know who have them. Thicker rotors are also the ticket.
