Deeper tone sound: Alta2.5 or IE?

Help:

I thought that my modding is over (you probably heard it 100x) but after a leak of my 1-ball and frequent mis-alignment, I have decided to step-up to a cat-back. The gain in HP & TQ maybe little over 1-ball but I would like my car to bark a little more.

I am going 1 sided to save weight. For those who have heard it in person:

1. Which sounds deeper tone, Alta or IE?
2. Which burbles & crackles more?

Thank you.

My alta burbles and has a nice bite to it once it warms up/ From those who have heard it at wide open throttle in 1st through 3rd.

Honestly it sounds allot like Hell just broke loose

On a megan header catless with the Alta at idle you can hear a really mean lope in the exhaust. Like vdub said once on it WOT it sounds pretty good.

i can't vouch for the IE, but i couldn't be happier with the alta. I have the stealth version, and like vdubdoug said, once it warms up it burbles like crazy. Even when lightly cruising and just shifting threw the gears you get a nice rumble. here is a video of the exhaust during a recent dyno run.

the gf was supposed to stay directly behind the car and get a good sound clip of the exhaust, but she said she got scared and backed away. the exhaust is louder in person, but the supercharger and the dyno drums kind of overpowers it. also this was the first dyno run, so the exhaust wasn't hot at all.

i will have to get a soundclip of my mini at wide open throttle for you.

I actually found one:

Go to the 5 minute mark. It isn't the best but it is all i have for now

I don't have the means to post a sound clip right now, but I couldn't be happier with my IE. It has a very nice rumble at idle, really compliments the supercharger while cruising at about 10 mph in 2nd gear through a parking lot or at low speeds, and at WOT, it sounds like a metallic tornado is coming out the back. For $340, you can't go wrong. It comes with U Bolt clamps, and I recommend going to NAPA and getting their band style clamps. The only quality issue I can say that the Ireland has are the tips. The tips will be better on the Alta, but that's something I can overlook. You can also measure the tips and hit 'em with a hacksaw or bandsaw to make them flush with the rear bumper exit. Any questions on the Ireland, you can ask me here or PM me.

I bought the IE.. The system is sitting in my house while I wait for my mini to get back from the body shop.. I read a bunch online and saw a bunch of videos and sound clips before making my decision. For the price it cant be beat (so far).. the quality is great. Yes the tips aren't super nice but I have a band saw and a welder so I will either fix mine or add tips to it. Go with the IE and then use the extra cash you saved to get something else for the mini.

The sound of the IE in youtube is really good but as members in NAM say, do yourself a favor by listening to the actual sound in Mini get-togethers which I do not have that benefit at the moment and probably due to IE still being new in the market compared to Alta, Magnaflow, Invidia, Milltek, Borla, Supersprint, etc. That is the reason why I came to the forum for opinions. The price is also hard to beat and the only thing that we can say "you get what you pay for" is the tip. My plan is to slash it 30 degrees if ever I chose IE over Alta. I think that there are few chromed tips that will fit the 2.75" pipes without touching the plastic panel opening. It will be too close to the plastic panel and may melt it. Or I can always black it out but it is not looking good for Indi Blue + White (to me personally).

the Alta sounds deep and agressive. it gives the mini a more serious and menacing character helping to bring out a more sinister side of the car and also toning down the cuteness, the pops and bangs sound great especially from outside the car. as far as volume, you can hear the exhaust from a block away. when the valet pull my car out for me i always hear it before is see it. sounds like a different car, especially at WOT. the sounds alone make the car "feel" that much faster

have ya considered the minspeed 1-sider? You can always go custom with a magnaflow can or supertrapp for less.

With the IE, you get a good resonator and can. If these things are hand crafted, then they are hand crafted pieces of art. Very well done. It sounds great and still holds the burbles and pops. From what I can tell from MOTD, my IE sounds just as good as an Alta. In the end, the choice is yours though.

I can't find local who's gonna do a custom for me besides everything is expensive here in Canada.

For the price of IE, supposedly/claimed ease of fitting and fine-adjustment, and if it really sound as good as alta, I have decided tonight to get the IE in autoxcooper. I will try to install this myself with a help from a friend. I would really like to cut the tips a bit shorter by maybe 1/2 inch and slash it by 30 degrees.

Because, do you really need two cans? Seriously, these cars are not 350 Zs . Plus like stated before, that's a lot of weight shed. By the way, I installed mine by myself using my ramps in under an hour. That's not including removing the stock exhaust, which is a pain to remove. Don't forget to get two 2.5 inch bolts and nuts. 2he stock exhaust has bolts attached to the exhaust and these can't be reused.
