No More Hesitation But Power Seems Less

I changed over to the NGK Iridiums IX one step colder gapped at .044 out of the box. My high rpm hesitation problems have gone away and it is smooth, but power at high rpms does not seem as strong. The weather has been very hot (113 F) so maybe that is were my lack of power is coming from...just seeing if maybe a different plug would be better. I am still getting pinging if the AC is on and it 113 outside, should I be getting pinging with my mods with the AC on and 113 degree plus temps? Also power is way less with the a/c on too!

When we were tuning my wifes car, Jan told me to gap them at .028 to lower temps at the higher RPMs. Your gap seems really wide. I beleive the stock gap is .032, but don't qoute me on that.

thanks! was your plug one step colder...I was thinking that the gap was a little wide too. I was reading where the denso plugs were around what you are saying, but I was told that if .044 was what the gap was out of the box then to leave it. Maybe the iridium tips are not really meant to be gapped due to chance of deformation or breaking?

Blimey isnt kidding

[quote= MINIs love cold air... [/quote]

my mini feels like 2 different cars depending on the temperature, if its really hot out and i have the a/c pumping the cars feels super slow and if i redline first and grab second hard i get a chirp,
If its cooler out and i redline and grab second it'll get a little sketchy and squirrely till about 3/4 way through 2nd when i actually grab traction
----by the way i probably shouldnt do this too often cause when i do finally snag some traction i feel like its going to twist the 1/2 shafts out of the car. and yes i have good tires eagle f1---

How many miles on the plugs? You check them lately? I live in Phoenix and my 8's started to foul.

They are new, but we had a set that we ran for over 20K and four track days. They didn't look bad, we just replaced them because we were getting a new tune with the new cam.
