Stock Open Differential Plus Phantom Grip

My stock open diff looks great with no great wear on it(45000 miles). I did a test fit of my phantom grip kit last night in my stock open diff, but it would not clear the spider gears! Each spider gear has a raised lip on it's medial side(to offer more contact with cross pin I imagine). See pics.

Anybody have this phantom grip fitment issue? Looks like I'll have to get my machine shop to mill those raised lips off of the spider gears to gain the suggested .003" to .005" thou clearance!

Jeremy

Stock spider gear with raised inner diam lip!

The blasted phantom grip can't slide in between(not its fault-hehe) the spider gears shown on the diff pin.

I'm no transmission expert, but milling that small amount off should be fine.

Is the Phantom grip something like a "lunchbox" locker? Anyone who is into 4x4 will know what I mean.

Just a cheap way to lock the diff up to act like a posi, LSD, locker, ect..?

I think they're going for $300 now. http://www.phantomgrip.com/

I'll be selling my phantom gripped stock differential after I get the fitment sorted out!

The phantom grip kit has been test fitted in my open differential! The spider gears were worked over and all the parts have been cleaned. All that's left is the lubed reassembly.
