(These numbers are the last three numbers on Napa and other part store belts).

Jan, correct me if I'm wrong
Any harm in running 535 with just 15% pulley? I just put one on 2wks ago. 535 was the recommended belt for 15% on multiple threads on this topic.

I'd like to know too. I didn't experience any belt slippage at the dyno day 2 weeks ago and I surely don't want to be sent home!

By the way, I've one complete hole showing with 15% running 535 belt. This is after 400 miles street driving plus 100 miles from lapping day. In the initial thread I believe Jan required at least 1/2 hole showing. Since there are quite of variability in the length of belt of the same stock number, going by the "hole showing" should be a better indicator of proper tension on belt vs. the part number of belt. My $.02.

Jan, please chim in. thx

535 is the perfect belt for 15%. Please see email exchange with the MAN himself.

Two wks ago I had put on a new 535 belt, I only have a 15% pulley, it shows one complete hole. Will this be okay?

thx

I hope anyone who scheduled late has checked to see their new times on the first page!
Im doing a new tensioner and 535 belt. Now I have to take back my JCW belt which I thought would work. I also bought the laser platinum BKR7EQUP plugs (fancy one step colder plugs w/4 posts) which are talked about in most spark plug related threads. I hope that's what Jan wants!

+1 on the plugs. Got rid of my Iridium and these have been an improvement.

What kind of issues did you have with the Iridiums? NGK or Denso?

Short life and premature wear of the electrode. The Densos I had wore out the electrode very quickly, and the NGK's I replaced just recently show better wear, but still looked like they would wear out faster. The NGK platinum JCW plugs don't have issues with gap as they are just a colder stock 4 prong plug.

I checked and i have barely a hole showing so I'll be getting a 535 belt too. I'll probably install a tensioner stop while I'm in there just for safety.

Will be ordering plugs and some injectors too. I also picked up a new fuel filter.

I can't wait for the tune, I'm really hoping I don't find out all my bolt on mods do nothing and I only put like 150 to the wheels

Thanks for the info. How long did the NGK iridiums last? I have a set of those that I'm ready to drop in before the tune.

I also wore out a set of iridiums within 3500 miles. They just burned up and the car started running on three. I used stock replacements cheapo NGKs and I have had no problems. Im changing to the new plugs this weekend.

Has Speed Factory provided any rates for Belt/Plug/Injector installs? I'll be DIY, but for those thikning of having a shop do it I would assume Speed Factory could.

I also think it's probably not kosher to show up and perform installs on our own in their parking lot even if we decide to help each other out... just a thought.

Good question! I just got off the phone with James the tuner and dyno operator and he said they would keep their schedule open for installations and fast dyno swap outs. James said that they are very fair and would be happy to help with Cam, injector, belt installations if scheduled ahead of time before the tune. Ill bring my belt tensioner tool if anybody needs it. Its home made so if anybody has a real one bring it.

Just checked this thread for updates and the Thurs late slot works for me. I had to go to a 532 belt with my 17% pulley to get 1 hole showing. I'll change plugs before the tune. Chime in on which NGKs are preferred. Thanks, Coll

NGK Iridiums 7 for 14K miles and still looking good last week. I will be replacing my belt also with 535. Just checked last week, I can't see any hole anymore but there was a 1/4 at stock belt and 15% pulley back in 2004.

Yup, just installed my 380s and 535 belt yesterday. I'll change oil and wash air filter next week. My one-ball is not aligned though.

I bought some JCW 380 injectors as well, however I have not installed them yet. Have you noticed any loss in fuel economy since installing them? Any other noticable changes since installing them?

I too am very much looking forward to this tune!!

It is too early to tell besides I am taking it easy until the tune. The tech told me that I may notice slight rougher idle but it will probaly improve as the ECU learns. Well, I can hardly tell but I will check the plugs and exhaust if it is running rich. He was trying to sell me the JCW software for $160 to smooth it out and tie all my mods together but told him that RMW dyno tune is on the way. Also, I asked him if my intercooler is oily inside but he said it's not bad considering that I do not have oil catch can. Better check yours too if it needs solvent flushing.

Also excited - I recently replaced the belt and plugs in preparation... and maybe decided to pick up an Alta V1 IC I won't be going much further with mods so I decided not to do 380s.

So if I read the schedule correctly, I should have an afternoon spot on Friday? I am going to try to time my "Inspection 1" with this tune event so I don't have to go down to Tacompton twice! It will be fun having NW Mini tell me I have voided my warranty...

My mod objective is ONLY to match or even exceed the stock JCW =210HP at less than half the price. I am hoping to be at 185- 190 whp (210HP-215HP). I thought that with the 380s, Jan can increase the redline without running out of fuel or maxing out at duty cycle. Jan may never do PNW tuning again, I might as well add the injectors as safety net...also there is probably a reason why JCW decided to go 380cc. I made a mistake with the Shark 93 flash maybe gaining only 3-4 HP (although there were not much choices at that time) for $360 in mid '04. I want to do it right this time and hope that the RMW tune will make my ride more exciting as ever.
