Drivetrain Replacing Motor Mount??
Replacing Motor Mount??
So I have a 04 CooperS with the new style motor mount, which does as good of a job and a ham sandwich in my engine bay, and it decided to take a leak all of the place.
Has anyone had to replace this themselves?
What kind of labor is involved?
How much is this god forsaken chunk of poor engineering going to run me?
Thanks in advance.

Well my friend...you can swap it to the other style motor mount....and its easy enough YOU can do it...
. There has to be a DIY somewhere but my lazy fat butt is too drunk to look....Happy huntings...

Drinking and posting do not mix....
The new style mount runs less that 100 dollars and is fairly easy to do yourself. You will basically follow the pulley swap install instructions to get the engine off the mount and then remove the mount itself and replace. You will need a E12 socket (I think that is the right number) bit to get the bottom bolt out of the mount. Do not try to use a regular socket as you can strip the bolt. Took me about 2 hours total to do.

No problem...

I will be installing some new rotors and pads as well as a new sway bar hopefully sometime this week. Gotta keep my skills up.
EDM,
Here is a link to the pulley install. The idea is to get the engine lifted off the mount for removal. After you have it off, you take one bolt off in the engine compartment that holds the mount and the other is from underneath near the right front wheel skirt. Hope this helps....

I'm going to be replacing my motor mount today on my 03 MCS... yeah thats right, even the earlier mounts are crap too... just not quite as bad as the canister style that you have. I'm doing this along with some new urethane bushings from Ireland Engineering in the other motor mounts I'll let you know later tonight how it all goes.
I bought mine from BMW... However, I do know that Custom MINI shop has them. I would give Brad a shout.

OK... I just finished up with everything about an hour ago. It only took me about 30 min to do the hydraulic motor mount (the one that leaks) then about another hour or so to do the upper and lower polyurethane inserts for the other motor mounts. Really, this is not hard to do at all. Just take your time and don't rush, cuz it won't take that long anyways. The hardest part about the hydraulic mount is getting some of those damn plastic screws on the fender off
they want to keep spinning around in there instead threading out... I ended up only taking just enough out so I could pull the fender back a little to get in there with a wrench. Another thing that sux is I had to go buy an entire set of torx sockets just to get the E12 socket I needed... and it cost me $20 from sears. I'll probably never need those things again either so... I think I'm going to take them back and say it didn't have the size I needed
