New Voltage CAI!

Hi,

Dale from Voltage stopped by today and installed his new CAI on my car .

The box is hand formed fiberglass (no heat soak) with a molded in velocity stack for the UNI filter to connect to. The fit was perfect and the custom paint job is just awesome . Thank you Dale for adding a work of art under my hood.

What did he have to remove to get it installed other than the stock airbox? It appears to replace the plastic partition behind the stock airbox.

It mounts perfectly to bottom of the stock air box. Yes, it does replace the back partition. Very easy install. The back of the box is open.

Other than the paint job, how is this different from your old Voltage CAI, assuming this one was yours:

I would have bought one of these in lieu of the DDM had it been available when I made the purchase.

Where the hell is their website/ordering? This intake seems to crop up occasionally, but with no info on means of purchasing.

Yeh, but it ain't fitting your stock SC anytime soon! I'm sure it hides a multitude of sins under that enormous size...like a Rotrex SC.
That's one scary looking engine bay, Longboard.

You can contact Dale at voltageproducts@aol.com . Don't look for a website any time soon. Dale likes things simple.

A longer filter will require less cleaning (longer cycle) and provide a longer "peak performance period".

How can you say that ? Perhaps "low" heat soak compared to metal BUT even the stock box has a degree of "heat soak" for it does absorb some heat. This is fiberglass, so I will assume it absorbs less heat than metal BUT less than stock box, JCW or Dinan?

what ya got to back it up

Stop with the tough questions Bart I can't take the pressure .

Yes you are correct, It does retain some heat but nothing compared to the metal boxes.

I drove in Dales car which was a trip because I forgot how the Eaton sounded. It sounds more subdued then say the Alta driving mellow around town. When pushed it sounds great.

On my car it sounds little different .

You should redo some of those tubes on the left side in red to balance out and continue the color theme.

just keeping you honest

I really wonder how important the material is for a CAI? I run a metal box and it never really gets hot w/ the exception of turning off the car and letting it sit but then everything gets hot when you do that.

If I've been driving, stop and pop the hood to hand check the horns, IC and CAI box - they are all relatively cool to the touch. I did insulate the box on the outside to hopefully improve it but I can't really say if it does or how much it does.

It would appear that the design is not real filter access friendly ?
