If I possessed the skills, I would make myself a box out of pure CF, Mmmm that would be nice. The shape would not be hard to recreate(it is just a box) You could make folds to creat heatsinks. And it would be damn pretty to look at

I for one would still appreciate an answer to the basic question of filter accessibility: how easy/hard is it?
Can anyone with one chime in?

Very pretty box but I feel there are better overall options out there.
Then put a longer/bigger filter in it. Heck, cram the Alta filter in it

The filter is the same size as the ALTA. Cleaning the filter is easy. Less screws to remove then the metal boxes .

My "metal box" only has two screws for access so it would have to have 1 screw which it doesn't. Just keeping you honest.

Seriously, this CAI is a little harder to access the filter for cleaning. Proabably no big deal but if we were doing a pro/con on CAIs this would have to be noted.

You got to be messing with me Bart . Unless a guy can't use a screwdriver I would agree . Five little screws and pull it out.

Not the case but thanks for the consideration. We dissect every other CAI that has come to market so why not this one?

1) Fiberglass construction - It heat soaks less then metal but probably more than Stock, Dinan, JCW. Assumption have not seen any data.
2) Filter access is harder, not much I admit but you are basically removing the while thing including back panel. As opposed to removing the lid to gain access.
3) LOOKS - first rate and can be sexy custom painted.
4) massive velocity stack - great conceptually and logic says its a good thing but no data that it actually improves things.

Clearly worth consideration, amongst others.

Just as an aside, when I registered my MCS (bought from owner in Wisconsin) which has an Alta intake--I took it to the Smog place across the street from the DMV. It passed the visual and all the output numbers (analyzed here on NAM by a NAM memer) said they were still within allowable limits--as if the CAI really didn't have much of an impact on the numbers.

I don't know if all smog places would pass the visual, but I do know what smog place I'll be going to next time, lol.

Yes, yes they do. But that could also have been a very tired web designer. Either way it should be fixed. Doesn't reflect to well on the company.

I think you meant "reflect too well".
(Sorry . . . couldn't resist based on the topic -- although the spell checker doesn't catch all.)

Cool Thanks for the info. I have the Alta too, it's the only thing that dosen't look stock under my bonnet. I have heard some don't care and some that do, passing the visual.

After hard driving with the Alta CAI you can pop open the bonnet and I can tell you first hand that the box does not get hot. Mine is always cool to the touch. Honestly with the amount of air thats flowing into the box the only way for it to heat soak is to let it idle for a bit. And that'll do it for any CAI.

No it's not mine but I wish it was. I love the look of this one. It's sitting here in my office so I took the pic to show. I took two to Vegas to show for Voltage.
