Anyone know about how thick the fiberglass is or how many layers it is? I really like this intake!

LOL! That is damn funny. Heating the intake charge is cooling your CAI box. Is that what you are saying? Just remove the enclosure entirely, then it won't even heat sink at idle.

Is the top part of the box, in back towards the firewall, vented to the engine bay? Kinda looks like they've got a louver thing going.

Nice looking piece.

Well my friends, I took the plunge!

Placed my order today! One of my friends had his delivered today and like any good Mini owner he ran home from work and installed it immediately!

He then proceeded to drop by my work and show it off. Very very good looking and sounding intake

I can't wait until mine arrives! Thanks for bringing these to our attention LB!

Oh! Does anyone have a link where I can buy a red Sampco hose from? Thanks, I can't seem to find one on there site for the mini thats not an Alta

Congrats? Did Ryan get one? What color did you get? I was about to order mine last night but I am battling over what color to get it done. I am thinking about doing Electric Blue to match the car but its such a tough decision!

I do love this piece! Very happy with the purchase. I talked to one of our local Mini techs and he said that ifi it were black he wouldn't have even noticed that it was different. I have some pics of mine installed up on www.whineandburble.com, check them out.

Stock intake tube vs. Alta?

Anyone know if using the Alta intake tube would be detrimental to the performance of the Voltage in any way, or would it be preferred over using the OEM? I realize many people are attracted to the OEM look and the OEM tube would be apart of that--but since I bought my car used and already had the Alta parts--that's really not an option for me, unless I can find a take off--but seems like a backwards step.

Is anyone noticing either any kind of difference--sound wise or numbers wise--whatever difference between the Voltage and Alta??

Thanks

Richard

I cannot see how it could be a detriment in any wayl I do know that Dale at Voltage recommends the Samco hose. Roggenmini who posted here is running the Alta hose with his Voltage. You could ask him for specifics...

I have the Alta hose. It was kind of hard to get it to stay on. I had to really tighten the clamp. But have not had any problems. I have to say that I love the whole look of it. I have the Blue Alta hose, I wasn't sure how it was going to look but I really like it. Matches my nology wires!

Kinda defeats the whole cold air intake concept.
