Drivetrain Scorpion Exhaust
I'm going to try to get them tomorrow.
The exhaust survived the ride home. Still no rattles. It's snowing here, so I had a very slow unfun ride home not getting on the throttle. It hasn't snowed the entire winter.

>>Cool, let us know if that works out!
Are you going to buy bolts before your installation. When are you going to do yours?
Did everyone figure out the exhaust hanger issue? The Scorpion should go right on a 2004 without modification. Mine did. If it ever clears up, I'll get pics of mine.

Just a quick note on the hanger situation. mcs22004 your car was built in 2003 therefore I don't think they had changed the hangers yet. The answer to your question if the hangers swing side to side is yes for the outside hanger and no for the inside hanger this swings back to front so there is deffinately a change. I had a chat with Randy Webb this morning who had worked on other 2004 builds this weekend and although he didn't notice this change he did express that there where some other significant changes to the 2004 build. This won't effect you , but will probably effect anyone receiving a 2004 build MCS.

My MCS should be here next week, so I'd like to install it then. If my hangers are hosed, I'll hopefully be able to make an appointment before the week is out.

Although my outside hanger brackets are removable (12mm bolts, I think), it looked like the inside ones were welded.
Are you guys going to have the hanger brackets turned or turn the ones on the Scorpion mufflers?
Seems like the best solution would be a hanger that has the bottom hole running perpendicular to the top hole. You could just swap it with the original hanger and retain that old part in case you ever switch the exhaust with something different later that is made for the 2004 builds. That way nothing would have to be modified. I'd add that to the list of very useful little items that the aftermarket companies should (but never will) sell. After all, why sell something useful when they can sell Battlestar Galactica-style neon light strips for the door sills?

Whatever happened to the theory that exhaust prices would come down with competition and time? Seems as if they are going up instead :???:
I wholeheartdely agree with you ABT. Of course, I found this out months ago. I have a story I could share about Milltek and Stratmosphere, however, I will keep that myself. Greediness is the root of all evil.
One comment on the group buys. Even though I would think it's good for the vendor, it seems as if they have been turned off from doing it. At least for the Mini community anyways. This may go back to the greedines statement though. The Mini is a hot commodity and apparently, some of them are not interested in selling them faster at a lower profit.

Well I was suppose to have mine installed, but my Mini broke down (again!) on the way to work on Monday. I am having a lot of problems with my Service Engine Soon Light and the car loosing a tremendous amount of power. This is now the 6th time that it has been to the dealership for this problem for a total of 32 days. The dealership has been about as good as they can be in this situation, but have been unable to diagnose the problem or correct it. I have just retained a legal firm to pursue BMW to buy back my car. If that is the case, I will need to purchase a new one and then get the exhaust put on.
I`ve got a question for Scorpion owners. Are the mufflers visible when looking at the rear of the car? I mean, do they hang low enough to be seen by others driving behind the MINI?
Thanks,
Paul.
Thanks,
Paul.

I don't know because I've never driven behind my car since I installed the Scorpion last Sunday. It seems as though the bottoms of the mufflers would be visible, though, but I normally don't see them when I walk toward the car from the rear. I know they are less visible than the stock mufflers were. Perhaps tomorrow I will take shot of the back of the car and post it here.
Because my ASA LS5s have huge gaps between their spokes, I can see the mufflers through the spokes from the sides of the car

Yes, please post a pic of the rear. I would hope they`re somewhat visible. I think the JCW exhaust hangs low enough to be seen from the rear. Kinda like that look

I hate to be the one to tell you this but in your sig you have the exhaust on backwards with the exhaust coming out the front.

>>MCS22004, great pics. Could not ask for more. Love those Scorpion tips. Thank you.

I think the road salt really adds to the finish. The bottoms of the mufflers are so dirty that they don't even look stainless. They actually have a polished look and "Scorpion" is engraved on the underside.
