In fact I believe the tune on the UNICHIP was just wrong, not the UNICHIP itself. The first dyno run with the UNICHIP tune revealed a whole bunch of pinging that I couldn't hear from inside the car, so the computer was detuning, retarding the advance, as the Unichip was attempting to continue to add more advance.
I made sure I didn't have the switch on 100 octane tune (on the Unichip) so as the old Chinese guys would say: "Sum-ting wong"

Glad Jan figured it out. Jan actually first thought I had a hole in one of my pistons or bad rings producing poor compression to explain such poor initial performance. It was the UNICHIP tune, not necessarily the UNICHIP itself.

To all you guys that unfortunately spent the money on the unichip.

Have any of you tried to get your money back?? I have seen a number of them for sale with no takers. I would be pissed and would demand a refund.

That may have been the case, I'm not sure in your particular circumstances. The problem with the UNICHIP is the way it works, most of the time the ECU just learns around the programming on the chip and your back to square one eventually. There are literally hundreds of posts on here about people having major issues with the UNICHIP. That's not even considering the fact that it costs nearly 1k bucks before a tune!

That is true to an extent. Most "tuners" for the UniChip do NOT tune it correctly. Therefore, if you only tune it for part throttle it can learn around it. (ie. fuel trims, etc.) There are other areas in the UniChip that need to be addressed to get a "tune". That is probably what happened to PBerry.

I have seen cars that have responded very well to the UniChip. R53 and R56. Granted they were correctly tuned.

It was not a question of whether what you said was clear or not.
It was not a matter of what he said was clear or not.
I have no beef with the tuner of his previous setup.
I was simply stating that I have seen impressive results from a UniChip setup.
