Im thinking about buying one. Is this the only way to reduce engine movement other than harder bushings? Who else sells these and why are they different for pre 11/03 models? The same reason I can't get decent coilovers?

I've been selling alot of these lately. They will reduce the engine movement and the new version of the damper with the rubber bushings really keeps the vibrations down.

The reason you see one for pre 11/03 and post is because that is when the motor mount on the MINI changed design. The kits have different brackets to fit with the different motor mounts. The damper is a good start, but if you want to secure the engine some more you can add the harder bushings later.

I am guessing the other 2 most shipped items are TSW springs and mail order brides from Russia.

I just had one installed at the Chicago area tune event. It's worthwhile, but with a few caveats...

I didn't notice NVH at first, but now that I've had it and driven quite a bit the past few days, its definitely noticeable. You'll feel it at idle (there is a little shake in the steering wheel at idle from vibration, nothing terrible, but definitely new), and you can "feel" the engine through the car while you're driving at any speed. This isn't necessarily a bad thing--the car feels rawer, and a bit more like something you'd drive on the track than on the street.

From a performance persepective, it definitely makes shifting smoother/faster. Its a nice improvement in performance--not overwhelming, but good enough to make it worth it.

My wife isn't a big fan of the MINI, its too small for her, so I can pretty much do what I want to the car. If my wife drove it, I wouldn't install one of these. If you want your MINI to be as quiet/smooth as a MINI can be, I wouldn't install one of these. If you want improved shifting (smoother/faster), and a little NVH doesn't bother you (I actually like the way the car rumbles), then I'd go for it.

So if you want your Mini to feel, sound and ride like a fancy BMW probably skip it. If you want your Mini to feel, sound and ride like a Mini should then you probably wont mind it.

I have the older damper waiting to be put on the car when I get it back. I have rode in different Mini's lately. Some with it and some with out. Even got to drive a few. With this installed it definitely is a big difference with shifting and the power feel is better.

When you combine the tsw damper, poly lower engine mount and a tuned suspension, the result is quite a "racey, locked together feeling".I love the feeling as opposed to plush mush.....& nice throttle response

I just installed the new version, with the rudder helm joints TSW damper and I have to agree with some of the above posts...When I first fired my Liquid Yel 03 MCS, there was a very slight increase in vibration of the steering wheel at idle...if your "looking" for it. But after driving around a few miles, I was used to it and you don't notice. What you do notice is an incredible change in the over all feel of the car/drivetrain!
WOW! I traded my 99 E36 M3 for the MINI and I need to say the TSW damper is making a huge diff in the way the MINI drives/feels...much more solid. Shifts are smoother and the overall "pull" during acceleration is more connected to the ground? Thanks to all you people over the last year that have been givin' honest reviews of this product... I knew NAM was a good thing
