I am running the dampner also and the only gripe I have is that TSW has yet to send me the bracket for the module so right now it is zip tied But.....a really awesome product that I have to say is my favorite mod to date because even shifting while parked is improved. Everyone go ahead and get one......seriously you will not be disappointed.

My experience with an engine damper on an automatic (not a MINI) was really bad: the issue is that with a damper, LOTS of NVH gets through the transmission when you sit there waiting for the light while in gear, and even more with the A/C on.

Unless you regularly shift to Neutral when stopped, you may find that a damper is not a great add-on with an automatic tranny.

Just installed my TSW Engine Damper with Poly Bushings the other day. All I can say is WOW! A very noticeable improvement. Much less engine movement all around. You feel much more "connected" with the car. I also have the Poly lower engine bushings which also made a great improvement, and the TSW damper furthered that even more. All that's left for me is poly gearbox bushings, and I should be rather stable.

P.S. - Anyone know exactly how to adjust the damper? It says that it comes pre adjusted to a "friendly stret setting", but I'd like to set it more towards "violent".

I have the version #1 TSW unit and I believe the adjustment to be the same. I always find that if I take things apart and look at them I end up with a better understanding of how they work. If you look inside the damper you will see a large rubber bumper that is compressed when the engine moves the piston rod on the damper. The large threaded adjuster is used to lengthen or shorten the amount of movement it takes before the rubber starts to be compressed. Shorten this distance and you get a more "violent" adjustment and where most people start to feel NVH. Lengthen that distance and you get more of a "freindly setting", with less dampening and the NVH goes away. The smaller adjustment is used to adjust the overall length to fit the span of the mounting brackets. Just be sure that you have adequate thread engagement on all adjusters.

Ok. I messed with it. I'm not sure which way would make it stiffer/ allow less motion of the motor.

Here is a pic of mine

I made the large threaded sleeve go out as much as I could then backed it up a little. Is this the the way it should be for an agressive setting?

No!, you have it just the opposite. The further you thread the large adjuster in the more agressive the setting becomes. What you are showing in your photo would mean that the plunger would have to move further (I.E. engine movement) before any compressing of the rubber bumper occured. Please note that you should be very careful that you have ample thread engagement on both of your adjusters. In the photo you have the large adjuster out a long way.

I know this thread has to do with the Damper kits.. which i did buy.. but i was hoping that it would also help wiht a problem im having with my mini.

and ...interestingly... in looking at the couple of pics posted ... and taking a closer look at the motor mounts.. i see no leakage in any of the pics.

I am on my 2nd motor mount (one at 20K and one at 65K) . Sometimes after accelerating or coming to a stop... i hear a metalic clicking sound (just one) coming from teh front of the car. I cant pin point the location.

... any idears????
