RMW/Jan tuning party in Florida

I'll spare a prolonged explanation. Who wants Jan to make your car born-again?

YES!

I think a winter trip to the Sunshine State would be in order.

No shame in that. I was there very recently! It looks like March at the earliest. I'll look to finalize the date, book a dyno later this week. I'll have to leave enough time for Jan to find a decent airplane fare.

The best deal right now looks like Renn Haus (http://rennhaus.net/). They are a Porsche shop in Sarasota.

1) They have a Dynapack (only 3 in Fl). Jan much prefers these for best results.
2) They have lots of availability (every weekend in March but Mar. 22-23 will be ok) because they are a new shop. The other 2 are much more limited in time.
3) Because they are new (and the owner, Guy, likes Minis), they only want $1000 for a day of tuning. Jan says he can do 5 cars a day, so that makes the total cost about $550.

Considering a plane ticket much be purchased, I'm writing Jan right now to see what dates would work for him. We will need 2 days for 10 people. PM me or post here if you have a preference on dates!

I really don't know if I'll be able to swing $550, hopefully I'll be able to. The later the better...

I believe on a dynapack we can tune 8 cars in a day, maybe 10 if they stay for 12hrs and the cars are "ready" for the dyno

Looks like a very high-end shop. They could be tech-ing the cars before they get on the dyno and charge labor rates (if car requires something to be changed) on a personal basis.

Doing 8-10 cars in 1 day would drop the total price by about $80-100.

Just got off work and they're closed. Friggin med school. I'll call during lunch tomorrow and ask how many hours they will stay open. . If 10 cars in one day, it's 450 total. If not, we'll figure accordingly. It's still cheaper than MTH I believe, which is no comparison!

Just to update everyone, the dyno can stay open late (like 9-ish), so we can likely get at least 10 cars tuned that day .

There is a Downtown Mini track day on Sunday, in Gainesville. A few of us may head there to cap off the weekend .

If we're only there one day, then the total cost to everyone will be $450.

PLEASE CONFIRM IF YOU CAN ATTEND ....

The head tech at Renn Haus, Carlos, does excellent work; he did his first MCS reduction pulley install on my car, and it turned out perfect. If anyone in the area is ever looking to get the same procedure done, I'm sure he'd be happy to do it.

I'm a lowly high school student like littlehandegan, so gettin them papes might be a little difficult, but Sarasota is so close...

Unfortunately, Sarasota area would be too far for me to drive. If things change, I definitely wanna know about it though (ASAP so I can start lookin for $$).

I just checked Google Maps. It is going to be a 10hr 10min drive down. After a red eye arrival from Detroit on Friday night. It s further than I thought but I am game. I guess that I will be sucking down some red bulls!!! :-)

I will ask for the 5pm slot on the 29th.

How many people do you have so far?
