Anybody gonna splurge for the Cross Exhaust

Just saw these on the Cross website and hope someone will bite:

But I saw RMW's prototype exhaust from another thread and it looked so sweet....

$1898 for a catback? LOL, that's pretty much the cost of RMW's full exhaust including the amazing merge-collector header. There's no contest between these two; the RMW rules.

"lightweight stainless" "massive weight savings" "latest state-of-the-art" "special technology" I'm sorry , but something about the Adwriting (and the price) made me think (of) PU

That is so stupid. The same exhaust made for a Honda would be $750. They do the same this with all BMWs its stupid.

No, No and No!

I always wonder what companies think when they come out with something at a price point that's just crazy. Do just a "little" market research and then set your price point.

as a Cross owner, I must say that advert reads like a PU special.

Power to weight ratio is realized due to the massive weight savings that the exhaust offers. Also larger piping and thinner walls aid in power. Built utilizing the latest state-of-the-art equipment with larger diameter piping and smooth bends realize true power gains with a sportier exhaust tone. Special technology that is used during production allows Titanium and stainless steel to be welded together that gives the CROSS Sport Semi Titanium exhaust system a sporty titanium look with out the high price.

No exhaust should ever cost more than $500.

I wish I could agree Rob! The cat-back I just built for my R53 cost me $800 in materials alone! Of course it's 100% 304 stainless, from v-band ferrules to hangar rod and everything in between. I also don't have the advantage of scale economy, as I'm buying from small boutique suppliers. A $500 retail cat-back would no doubt have to be aluminized mild-steel [or mega China sale] to fit that budget.

I don't think it would be that crazy to do on a large scale with stainless.

materials, including flanges is $200 maybe.
Throw a muffler or 2 on there, add $100-$150
the left overs could go towards profit or towards the mufflers.

There is no real secret to bending an exhaust. it doesn't take long to prototype one out and the only real testing to be done is trying a few different diameters.

Your exhaust is a little crazy too.

I am not sure if I've seen an aftermarket exhaust for the MINI that wasn't stainless steel?

Does anyone know what exactly are the parts that are titanium? Not sure what they meant by semi-titanium. Also, how much is RMW's exhaust with header going for? or is it not priced yet?

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I would much rather have the coasttocoast exhaust which looks almost identical and is a lot less.

The exhaust featured on my website is full titanium aside from the clamps. This includes the mufflers and flanges. Total weight of system is 15lbs. We are working on getting more in. If there appeared to be enough interest we could probably get a group buy and get the price a bit lower as well.

+1 to Cliff. His exhaust would be my dream if I wanted the Ti treatment. Otherwise it's all RMW

Ti makes a unique sound on the cars that I have heard. A buddy had full Ti on his STI and it was able to shoot a 6 FOOT BLUE FLAME
