New resonator

I have the Dinan exhaust. Very happy with it, but would like a little more "burble" sound out of it. After seeing a few other threads about resonators was wondering what you guys thought of adding an aftermarket resonator, like:

Since the Dinan uses the stock resonator think this one will add any sound?

I can not predict how the 18/2.5/4 will sound with the Dinan, but I can share what the 18/2.25/3.5 did for my one-ball. The photos on the Vibrant site are different than the body style I have http://stores.channeladvisor.com/ver...Items/vibres18? .

The welds are pretty incredible for a cheapo Chinese manufactured product; they look like they were done by moonlighting aerospace fabricators (like my titanium bicycle frame). There were some oddball things about the entrance and exit tubes on the 18 inch, as compared to perfection on the 12 inch model. The 3.5 inch O.D. of the 18X2.25 fit the rear heat shield channel just right so I would imagine the 4 inch O.D. of the 2.5 might be tight; something to consider because the sides of the heat shield can be spread but the roof can’t be raised.

Be sure to measure the length of available space before the bends at each end because you might need to get creative to make it fit. Something I was not aware of before, you can not cold-bend hard grades of stainless.

With my custom header, 18 inch Vibrant, and one ball, there was a moderate attenuation of the upper frequencies. It took care of a low rpm cabin resonance, which I was hoping for, but it created an upper mid-range drone (think Tibetan Monk Chant). With the OEM header and 18 inch, there was less popping and burble than with a non-resonator one-ball, but some was still present.

Then I added a 12/2.25/3.5 post cat.

Now with two resonators in tandem, the sound levels are lower than the stock system at low rpm and midrange, but WOT has a bit of a growl; only infrequent pop/burble with the pair of Vibrant resonators. To add a resonator to gain a desired “burble” would be a gamble with the odds against it.

Nice jack stands

Ok if you want more snap, crackle, pop, you need to eliminate the resonator a.k.a RESONATORECTOMY . I did this on my JCW and love the new sound. Eliminator pipes are available from www.minspeed.com

Generally speaking a resonator should decrease burble. So adding a resonator or changing resonator should do very little in regards to burble factor.

Um yeah, resonator delete will give more burble than an "aftermarket" resonator

I eliminated my resonator after it cracked-muffler is now a bit louder (Alta Sportone) than I care to have. It has a high drone in the cabin at freeway speeds. It does sound cool on the outside but my ears are ringing after a long run on the inside.

DRONE while cruising is the pits.

let us know how you resolve. Perhaps you could pick up a jcw resonator for cheap from someone who did a resonator eliminator? Minspeed.net sells the eliminator, Peter might have a resonator laying around or perhaps the marketplace.

I feel for ya
