Removing Cat Converter?

Wondering what preformance enhancements and/or problems may spring up from doing this.

Not really planning to, but just a thought.

Sounds a lot louder, louder but maybe not better , a few hp tq on the dyno but without a 02 simulator your gonna throw a code and have the CEL on.

You will throw a CEL. performance gain would be minimal, because cats today are rather effecient. You also wouldn't pass emissions. If the cat in the Mini was a seperate piece that bolted to the exhaust & header, it wouldn't be a big deal to just swap it in and out as you needed. Unfortunately, the cat in the mini is part of the header, so, if you wanted an easily switched out cat, you'd have to cut out the stock cat, weld in a flange for a straight pipe, or higher flow cat, and then do the same to the stock cat so it will bolt up.

Thanks

Don't forget you'll smell like a '60's muscle car every time you drive it too. You can forget about impressing a date unless she's a tailpipe-sniffing junkie!

Federal Emission laws hold very high fines if catalytics are toyed with. Get a header cat system designed for performance and if in Ca. be sure it is CARB compliant. If you go with header have upgrade cat back exhaust to get full benefit and change 02 snesors for full advantage. Note: Once installed run vehicle thru cycles until computer sets in to new system. Dyno tuners know to do this.

The police are coming!

Ok, seriously, changing lambda's from swapping cat-back exhausts? Give me a break. Furthermore, do you think a company is going to tell you if their crap is "not designed for performance"? Experience is the key component here, and learning the hard way is the norm in the unpublished world of automotive aftermarket.
