Went to the dyno today

Today was my first run on a dyno with the MINI. I had a question about my numbers. The guy who drove the car didn't take the car up to peak rpm like i thought he should. my first run was 168.4hp @6195rpm and my second run was less at 161hp @6117 rpm. I am new with cars, but should the engine have been revved to redline or at least the point where the curve stopped climbing? my peak hp on both runs were at the peak rpm.
Should he have gone on to 6500rpm-ish?

FYI.
the car is stock except for an Alta intake.
heres a video too... i got a graph and plot but its not scanned in yet.

I didn't really look at the paperwork until I had left. He told me the numbers and they were better than I expected so I didn't really question him much...plus it was cold so I didn't want to stick around. He didnt run a fan either. There was one sitting there though. His dyno is new, so maybe he didn't know. I'll get in touch with him and bring it to his attention. hopefully he'll be willing to help/explain.

How much did he charge you? If nothing then yu got your moneys worth, if anything, he ripped you off. Nothing worse than a mechanic learning to do his job on your car!

Interesting, I would definitley find out if he knows what he is doing. Those numbers seem awfully good for just an intake and not even up to redline. Shoot put a cat back, header, and a tune from Jan you will be well over 200 .

What gear was the car in? It sure seems like that was an incredibly long pull?

4th gear perhaps?

I wonder if your numbers are skewed ?

Here are the graphs

this one shows you where he cut off...

here is the plotter... RPM | HP | Torque
you can see I was still climbing at the last plot.

I paid 50 for two runs, which seemed a good price. He said he's had the dyno for a year...so I figured he knew what he was doing so I didn't say much or press any issues. (partly due to my ignorance of dynos)

One other question, would having a fan be beneficial even if the temperature is cold?

It is possible that the RPM readings on the dyno were not calibrated correctly? Something similar happened to me, but my results were just some 200-300RPMs off.

With some dyno's they calibrate the RPM readings first prior to the dyno run just by e.g. revving the car to 3000RPMs.

Those are some... interesting... numbers.
The things that stand out the most are the readings.
~160 ft/lbs or torque at 4000 RPM and ~168hp at ~6000 RPM.

Why those are so interesting is those numbers are spot on what the factory rates the engine for at the crank at those exact RPM values.

yeah, pretty interesting that they're the factory values.

btw, cmdrvimes, how do you get to be "stuck in reverse", what does that even mean?
