Prosport AFR gauge...

Hey guys I was wondering if this gauge would work well in our cars. Does it effect the performance of the gauge to not have another O2 bung and connect it as a stand alone? I really am thinking about buying this one, but I want to make sure it will work correctly just being splined into the correct wires set and taking the readings from the computer. I will be buying other Prosport gauges and wanted this one because it was very reasonable, has both analog and digital reads, and matches the rest of the gauges and interior well.

Thanks guys.

Happy New Year!!!

It appears to be a narrow band gauge - won't give you any real information for it will not react fast enough. If you really want to see/learn about your A/F ratios this will not do it. Most will tell you that a narrow band a/f gauge is not worth adding. There are plenty of other gauges that are meaningful for 50-100 bucks. Have you added a boost gauge yet?

Just so you know one cannot add a wide band sensor to a narrow band gauge. Wide band A/F gauges typically cost a good bit more money (appr 300.00) but besides the gauge you get the wide band O2 sensor.

If you really want to learn/understand A/F you gotta go wideband.

I just installed over the holidays a Plexi Devices A/F gauge. All thats pending is the addition of a bung to add the O2 sensor and this is scheduled for this Friday. I bought the Plexi over the others because it gave the option of not having to add a bung but replace the stock and have the new O2 sensor serve both the gauge and ECU. The PROBLEM is that this set-up is overly complicated. I thought you would just tap the wires but its not the case - adding resistors, ect....................

Decided not to full around w/ the ECU - thus the need for another bung. Nice gauge however and am looking forward to see what I learn about my car.

Thanks, I wanted a wideband and knew it was the only way to go. I just was not sure if the prosport was wide or not. I also am trying not to think about spending the money on a wideband gauge. I keep telling my self that you get what you pay for...But, it will be a while until I buy one because I have other obligations and fun things lined up...

a wideband really isnt neccessary unless you are doing your own tuning..via an afc as you wont be able to change it anyways with any of the tunes.

A narrowband does nothing but perhaps provide in cabin entertainment - worthless. A wideband will at least tell you factual information on how your car is running.

For anyone considering a narrowband gauge - just start a thread titled "narrowband A/F worth buying?" and see the response you get from NAM members.

That's what I use it for... I log the data from mine (AutoMeter) and add it to my G-Tech plots.

Now if I could get the ODBII port to log the Timing Advance fast enough, I'd have an eben better picture of what's going on when I add/change somthing.

This is a plot I made after installing the pulley.

This is before/after the RMW tune:

Jan tweaked the AFR a bit and and also fixed the timing issue at the top.
