Drivetrain For all you Mod-heads... DSC ON or OFF?
For all you Mod-heads... DSC ON or OFF?
Now that you've added a bunch of ALTA goodies (or others) do you prefer to drive with the DSC on or off?
I'm trying to figure out what gives the best performance... with DSC turned off, I get quite a bit of wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear. Although, I'm wondering if the performance is better throughout the other gears with DSC off, or if I should just leave it on.
So I'm just curious what YOU prefer to have it set at and why. And do you still mess with the Sport button or find with a lot of mods that it doesn't make much of a difference now?
MIKEG (if you see this)... I'm curious what DSC/SPORT setup you have with the ECU (you little punk.. just kidding
). When you went to the drag strip were you launching with DSC on or off?

In everyday driving I leave DSC on, honestly, mostly for the hill assist feature which is pretty cool. I don't have any wheelspin problems, courtesy of my suspension setup, so that's not a reason for me....I do turn it off for certain spirited drives, as I've found it definitely underestimates me and my car....and the first thing I do after I start my car is push the sport button.
I leave mine on most of the time, but I'm intrigued by a statement Adam with ALTA made a while back. He said that the significant dip in torque at 3000(ish) RPM was DSC related. It's like the computer is totally over compensating to prevent wheel spin throughout the RPM band.
Just my $.02.

Don't think you have. I've read that before too. Maybe the dip is worse with DSC...dunno. I'm guessing (and this is a big guess) the dip is the area between where the engine power maxes out without turbo and before the turbo gets enough boost going on.

Believe it or not the traction control acts diffently now with the piggy back system. It actually seems to work better, what I mean by better is that it does not "Cut" off like it normally does then turn back on, while jerking the whole time making you look like you dont know how to drive. I have been toying with both on and off. I am anxious to see other peoples ideas on this when they get theirs.
