Most gain?

I wanted to know what two things make the most gain in hp and torque and you can tell a big difference.

Altas monster GT Turbo combined with all the goodies. But that's more like 6 or 7 things if you add it up... and techniccly its not out yet, so...

I think what your looking for is an intake and cat-back exhaust combo. Good for about 20-30hp and a noticable boost in torque. Not to mention a nicer engine and exhaust note.

Lots of manufacturers and distributers to choose from. Figure on spending in the ballpark of $900-1000 for the combo. A perfect start to MINI modding.

I agree exhaust, intake and ECU will make a HUGE difference.

Wouldn't the catback + downpipe actually make the most power if one was buying only two parts??? I know the intake + catback combo is a lot cheaper and adds those very awesome turbo sounds, but what about strictly performance wise? I already have the intake and am definitely getting the turboback installed next month, but I'm just wondering...

Yeah the full turbo back exhaust definitely nets the most gains for basically a single piece(just doing exhaust).....and the sound is just awesome....I get compliments everytime I drive with other high performance cars.

The ECU is by far the largest gain. More than everything else I have done combined.

I raced a 350z yestarday and its killed me i was told they do 5.4 from 0-60 with all the ecu intake catback inlet tube and everything. could you beat the 350z and do you think it could be made to the low 5 from 0-60

Damn... I promised myself I'd wait awhile as putting even a piggback aftermarket ECU on a $33,000 car with less than 3,000 miles on it (and it's my very first car) still doesn't sit quite right with me. But comments like that really make it hard!!!

2 most power producing items over all.

My guess would be intake/ECU. Maybe catback/ECU but this would be much more money.

I'm probably going to go intake/ECU very shortly....guessing about a grand.

oh and don't feel bad about losing to the 350Z. I drove the topdog Nismo model at Poconos raceway. Sucked. Just a horrible driving car. The Mini is way better/more fun.

....now boost up and kick his ***.

Funny you should say that. I raced one 2 days ago. I beat it. Actually pulled pretty well from it.

I understand your concern. I can say that I have never NEVER had any problems in the 20k miles that I have put on my car with these mods, and I dont exactly baby the car. I can see the PnP ECU being a major plus for those of you with concerns with warrenty. I would recommend that before a down pipe due to ease of changing back to stock.

Wow! I thought the intake & turboback was a kick! That's good to know, and my ECU will be here soon. Then I'll have the whole enchilada!

Mike G,

No, In fact, the only time I have been to a dragstrip was the 2007 Winternationals in Pomona. Where in Charlotte will you be? I have not met any other MINI owners yet.

Well, I live in Scottsdale AZ, but still have friends in Charlotte. I am just flying over there for New Year's eve party. I used to live at Phillips Place near South Park mall. Check out the Mini Clubs in NC. There are a few members.
