Alta boost gauge setup installed!!

I guess you could say the head honcho of Alta sort of owed me a favor, so I was able to get the soon to be released gauge setup....I currently just have the boost gauge setup....it is really an awesome setup ...the gauge is super nice; I have it wired so driving during the day(without headlights on) it has a white lighting, but at night with my lights on the lighting becomes red which just about perfectly matches the oem tach/speedo lighting; very cool how you can have different lighting setups, and the color of the actual gauge matches with the others very well!!!...the gauge also has a max recall button and memory...max boost it said I'm running now is 14psi, which is what it should read, for now. Overall simple install and was able to easily cleanly wire everything so no wires are exposed at all.....will post up pics later....thanks again Alta(Adam)

Very cool! I originally didn't have much interest in the guages, but that I may have to swing for.
While driving (especially under acceleration) I always find myself wondering how much boost I'm getting, so it'd be cool to know with a simple glance. And that location is perfect. I'd actually like a coolant temperature gauge as well but there doesn't seem to be anywhere else to do as neat of an install.

How was installation though? I know you said simple, but I'm more thinking of time since I'll have to get an installer to do it.

I think install for me was probably like 2.5-3 hours, could be done faster though cause I was kinda taking my time to do everything exactly how I wanted it...there's just a lot of little things to do, not like one big thing.

Looking good!

We are essentially done with the kits, with two minor exceptions. There is an ALTA badge that goes on the side of each pod that got held up due to the holidays or something. Should be one week (?)

The other thing is for the boost gauge connection, a standoff is used from the MAP sensor. Those are at ano now and should also be available after the new year. Pricing for the kits is nearly identical to the ones on our website for the R53.

More info soon! Thanks folks!

I felt the same way, about knowing how much boost the turbo is putting at different speeds, plus with the max recall, you don't even have to be watching the gauge to know what boost you hit....just hit the recall button and it will tell you...and it is kinda funny to watch under straight line acceleration, how quickly it builds boost(thank you twin scroll turbo)....and the location works out perfect

Overall, easy....I thought the hardest part was just removing the windshield wipers and the plastic below the wipers to be able to route the sensor wiring into the cabin, but this wasn't hard. Once you're in the car doing the wiring, it's really easy, just pulling off some panels and tapping into wires........and it's not even hard to route the wiring cleanly so it pops out right behind the tach and nothing else is exposed......you'll definitely like it a lot.......the gauge is just sooooo nice ......we're even now; you have the ecu tune before me, and I have boost gauge before you

This gauge looks amazing, I will definately be buying one when they are made available!

A question, you say the price is the same as the R53 yet on your website the R53 gauges only comes in a combination of Boost/EGT, Boost/Oil or Boost/Water for $299-$319. Will the R56 receive a similar/identical setup of a combination Gauge for each side of the Tac?

Thanks in advance!

It is a very nice setup !!!.....and the 2 gauge setup on Alta's for the R53 is what's gonna be offered for the R56, that being the pod design and gauge choices, and price....I just opted for just the single boost gauge that's all, which is not shown on the site.

Kinda funny how that worked out huh? I am actually excited to see your results when you get the ECU. I'm sure you will let us know when you get it. Have a Merry Christmas! Maybe you will have the ECU before New Years?
