Randy,

I can bring a heavy duty jack if needed. I don't think they will give me trouble crossing the border since it looks so old and beat up. Now if only I could fit a garage in the MINI

can't wait

It takes two regular floor jacks. A regular small portable compressor will work as well. The rest I ship in. I have done two of the parties in house garages, so that is not a problem at all.

Thanks for the help! A lot of folks will be happy if we can find a new spot  .

Randy - We'll find a place or we'll do it in the parking lot of Steve's favorite pub. Wait a minute...he has dozens of favorites..strike that. Hey, can you direct me to any discussion or explanation of how the pulley is installed? I have heard that there is some concern re lifting the motor for the installation and that dismantling the front end would be better??? On this, I am especially ignorant. Thanks

Randy, this is definitely not good news. I have a 1+ car garage (with a parking lift, but that doesn't help for this job). It would be a bit tight after a while. Plus I don't have much parking so, it would be difficult. I wish I could offer it.

Someone will chime in.

Randy, Is Saturday 8AM stil open? If so, book me for the pulley install.
I am leaving for England tomorrow. It may be a couple of days before I can get to a computer to log on.
-Cheers, Dan

Just so everyone can stop sweating, I think I have a place. I am going to email Randy the info I have and we will let you know if it will pan out.

If this does not work out and people are willing to travel down to central, western Connecticut, I will offer my home garage or the business garage of one of my mechanic friends. I have or can get the jacks, etc. Also, I am on tap 24/7 and have a great view. Plus, it would freak my wife out to see a parade om Minis on our driveway. Let me know if needed.

I have PM'd Randy...
I run a furniture business that is nearly across the street from the original location in Hyannis. I have a 2500 sq ft, heated, ground level, drive-in warehouse with a compressor. Could fit several cars at once...I just need approval from the owner. I will have an answer Saturday.

Oh, I have one Kmart special jack too. Not the best, but it's what I used for my pulley...

Bisch, cool. I can't wait to check out your car.

I emailed Randy again asking him to check with you, and check with my guy, and pick whichever he thinks will work best or whichever he wants.

My place would be in Lexington, right off 95, but Friday would be out. Can only do it Sat/Sun up here, but the way it's shaping up, that's all we'd need, so we'll see.

I am psyched to see we have a couple different options. I was really worried this would fall through. Good work guys.

No word yet from Randy. I am wondering if maybe his randy@mini-motorsport.com addy is busted. Or he could be busy, either way no new info yet.

we (Noah and I)'ve got a two-ton and a 3.5 ton super-duty floor jack and two pairs of jack stands available. We might be able to host it here, but it seems that that might be taken care of... if another place is needed, please let me know.

Bisch,

Any word from your boss? I was waiting to talk with you about that possibility, as it sounds like the best venue for now.

Once we have word from Bisch's boss, I'll let you know. Don't worry, as we have four possibile new locations, so the event is definitely still on!

I was autocrossing all weekend, apologize if it caused undue stress. Now I'm playing catch up from the weekend - phone messages and e-mails.

We now have a 2500 sqft heated space for the event!

Thanks to Bisch!

Dan - e-mail me your info and I'll slot you in for 8:00 on Saturday.

So, we now have it back on in a shop with a compressor and heat. Now I have to find hotel and transportation (thanks again Bisch for e-mailing me some local hotel info).

rfath - I will take you and Noah up on the jack and stands offer. The rest of the tools will be UPSed into position.

Again, here is the new location:

Hides N' Seats
276 Falmouth Road
Hyannis, MA

Thanks again for everyone's help!

Randy

Where is everyone staying? It would be cool if we could all be at the same hotel, maybe get a group discount. Also if anyone wants to split a room (2 queen beds of course) I would be up for it. After a few beers a bed is a bed nothing else matters .

Amit,

Bisch is e-mailing me with a list of close hotels. I agree that it would be cool to all be at the same place. I'd be happy to share the cost of a room. Is anyone else coming down from Canda eh?

I'll post the options for hotels shortly.

I might be willing to take one of the Friday slots, if they are still available. I'll be away oct 25,26    That gives me one month to break it in before I do any mods.... I'll pose my question on Mini Talk so as to not hi-jack the thread!

Randy,

I'm working on the Canadians. I don't do the "eh" thing though, I'm a yank and use "huh" instead.... Splitting a room is fine by me. I promise I won't liquor you up too much Sat night ...goo thing I got the 11am slot, you should be all sobered up by then...HA! Doesn't matter which hotel though. Let's try to get everyone at the same place.

see everyone soon.

Someone who knows the area should just pick a convenient mid to upper range hotel that is not booked up for an event, post it, and the rest of us should go for it. I don't think I want the Cuddles place showing up on my credit card, however. I've stayed at a couple of places near the island ferries before going over to Nantucket that seem to have many rooms, but I'll crash anywhere and snore like a beast after a couple of beers.

Thanks, Tim for your offer of space. Still planning to make it a day trip from NH although will probably have to leave exactly when the day starts to make my Sunday app't. Randy, are you changing motor mounts for anyone while doing a pulley?

Randy,

What times are left? I mentioned getting a time for a pully when I offered my shop to you for the party, but haven't heard anything back. I know you were in the middle of a project when I called. Please let me know what the time options are.

Thanks,

Scott
