Hi I have bought the Turbo back exhaust in a couple of days i will install the kit and i would to know your feedback about it. did you feel anything diference in the way of drive???i think faster but in what way ¿?

I've had it for awhile now....great gains power-wise, but makes the car sound simply amazing!!!

 

Its cool, well worth the $$.

BTW, be careful of the studs on the turbo manifold. I ended up torqueing one off and it was a PITA to drill and tap out. I did discover that the hardened valve train studs from a VW are the same size. So I replaced all mine with chromoly studs.

Also the heat shield that sits on top of the turbo doesn’t go back in well. Its easier to just trim the heatshield lip that squeezes under the valve cover. It looks like the install all that, then install the top of the engine.

Oh, hope you have small hands, not a lot of room under there.

I'll add my 2 cents in.

I just received my Intake, Down pipe and full Alta exhaust Wed.

I first put the Intake on and was please right away with the sound and slight performance gain I could feel.

The Down pipe exhaust really surprised me in its quality 1 but after install and testing driving the car had a totally different nature. More than the power i could feel . Iwas most impressedwith how smooth the power was from stock parts. Downshifting and running up the gears are way smoother.

 

LOL... zeodare has no idea what those three bolts at the bottom of the top heat shield will do for your patience... it was brutal!

DEFINITELY use penetrating lubricant on the turbo manifold bolts a few minutes before trying to remove them.

No CEL. The install is NOT hard or technical at all, just challenging due to the space constraints.

Just got back from a local car club meet.....I cruise to them with some friends that have subarus, gti's, etc....when we got to the meet, I was showered in compliments about my exhaust, for like the 100th time!!!!.....Alta Turbo Back for the win!!!

 

That's awesome, Scott! I think most Subaru owners are very proud of their "boxer rumble" (I know I am), so I would that that as high praise.

Hopefully my wife will let me add an Alta exhaust and perhaps a few other bits to our new Mini...

The downpipe combined with the catback exhaust replaces the entire OEM exhaust right?

Do you still need to worry about cutting the OEM exhaust? Or is that only necessary if you're installing just the catback?

 

I think there is a new exhaust and down pipe for the R56 coming out any day now.

Santa just bought himself an Alta downpipe & catback for Christmas.

Exactly why I wanted to wait and do them both at once instead of doing the catback then downpipe. Plus I want to feel all the performance gains and sound after one install.

Purchasing and getting it installed as soon as I get back to the US next month (assuming that both parts are in stock, please say yes) can't wait! ALTA FMIC to follow come Spring, then possibly PnP ECU when it's available for the auto.

 

I'm also thinking about purchasing the turbo back system and FMIC, but I'm worried about turbo lag. Should I wait for the bigger turbo kits to come out?

 

There's NO turbo lag, trust me

 

I can only say oee thing..... from 4000rpm i have a new car.... The next mod will be CAI and then i will do a dyno test
