my baseline was whatever software update mini of the main line installed in early 2006. the pulley and airbox were done by eric @ helix about a month ago, and while the car was more responsive, it definitely lacked smoothness and consistency in it's newly made power. the rmw tune has corrected this, and i had some gains in hp and tq.

thanks RedSkunk. yeah, i'd love to have closer to 200 ft lbs of torque like Ripper and PGT, but i don't have the bread for the more expensive stuff (rmw head, exhaust, etc.). so, for what little i have invested, i think this is pretty darn good.

And I'm really looking forward to my MINI driving like a hon-duh.

I understand. I just thought that Helix provided the GIAC software as a package with the 19% pulley and injectors.

Jan tuned my car, with basic mods (15%, CAI, exhaust) in Los Angeles. I already had a custom MTH tuner map so I was surprised when Jan's tune not only increased the HP and torque but improved the driveability and smoothness of the engine 1,000 percent! Good luck to everyone at the Helix tune.

Smiling from 217 whp & 191 ft/lbs of torque.

Thanks to Jan and Eric and Helix crew for making the event happen. Great experience indeed. You guys are awesome.

Driving report is coming. I'm taking Maxi out tonight for a test drive.

Just got home from work and wanted to update on what happened at helix yesterday. After about 2 hours on the dyno and going back to stock plugs I ended up with 224 whp and 200.2 tq For some reason that Jan wasn't able to figure out my car pulled really hard up to about 7400rpms and then dumped lots of fuel making power drop of there, rather than hold it to 8000 rpms.
Jan decided to lower my rev limit to 7400 rpms to be safe. That was fine with me cause I usually don't rev past there anyway. Up next was PGT on the dyno. PGT was a pretty down to earth guy and easy to talk with.
Pgt has the same basic mods as me except he has gp inter cooler and cam and I have dfic and port matched intake manifold. I figured he would have higher numbers than me due to Jans new cam (mime is stock) and I was right. His first run put down 221 whp and 190 tq with Jans base map. He was only down 3hp and 10 tq before Jan even started tuning his car. He stopped early and still got 9 whp more then me. He should be good for more with a little more time on the dyno.
Melvyn was also a very cool easy going guy and the day went by easier because everyone was so personable.

My car is so effing smooth and powerful that I smiled all the way back to baltimore. Jan is the Man.

JCW intake
JCW exhaust
JCW injectors
JCW GP intercooler
IK22 spark plugs
15% pulley
Schrick camshaft, 1st version
and the tuned.

Baseline run on JCW software: 202 whp & 183 ft/lb or torque. After tuned, driveablity is noticeable better. Highway is more fun as well (Back from Phily with big smile all the way ).

The result is no where near PGT's 233 whp, but from the mods I have, I'm very happy with the result.

Excellent. So maybe 200 -210 whp is still a possibility for me on my stock cam.

very nice Chris!! As you've mentioned before, my car felt strong in pre-RMW form compared to others, so it's no surprise we're getting big numbers from these mods. I'm just lucky to have a strong car to start I guess.

No it's the Krapbolt LT. At least it has a decent stereo and an AUX input.
