We left some power on the table in the interest of getting a safe tune and get me home before I got in big trouble..the day started way late and my first up slot ended up being last up, getting on the dyno at 9pm. In fact, I just walked in the door about 10 minutes ago and the wife was waiting for me. She's a saint....first stop for me is flowers for her in the morning.

PGT....now about to pass out
Very Cool, Dan... Could you throw up some scans of the dyno charts? I trying to persuade myself to have Jan do mine in Feb.

yep.....numbers were stellar. I had quietly hoped for 230ish and the first dyno run on Jan's basemap was 227hp and pig rich, so we knew there was potential off the bit. Jan seemed a bit disappointed, mostly because I looked at my watch and said 'make it reliable and let's GTFO'. I think he had hoped to spend a lot more time and max out the car's potential. Next time, for sure. 233whp is huge.....if there's another 10 in it, that's a good Round 2....all time spent there tuning this time (instead of hurry up and wait).

oh, and the throttle map Jan loaded is very nice. I'll get more seat time today, but without sounding sacrilegous, it's very Honda-like (this is meant as a compliment b/c the stock MINI tuning sucks frankly). Smooth throttle, no hickups, smooth powerband that wants to rev like crazy. Just with MINI dynamics, S/C whine and exhaust burble

I think that the dyno has been re-calibrated since my October run so both our cars would most likely read much different now, I am hoping to gat a base run to compare the diff in the dyno between October and now and then see what the cam has to offer.

How does the new exhaust sound?? Has the new Hushpower mufflers been able to tame the roar to an acceptable level?
Thanks, Steve

bad news: at highway cruise, it's about as loud
good news: it's much quieter everywhere else (and that's how I use this car)

If you can get a base run before the cam that would be great. I'd like to see if your numbers changed. Please post if you can. Do you have the new supercharger on or is it being installed @ Helix. Thanks Larry

yeah...I don't think this is the right venue for base runs, installs, then power runs, but it would be great to see if you can make it happen. Too many people waiting to get cars tuned to strap the car on twice

I will try talking Eric and Jan into it, I think that they would both like to have a reference, I am sure Jan would love to have data on his cam over the Schrick cam

for sure. my car did 227hp on the first run vs. RIPPER's best of 219hp I think (after a ton of runs and reflashes). I think we have the same setup, but he has the stock cam or a Schrick (I forget...was so tired by then I can't remember)

I'm sure Jan would like that info also. Now you'll have a cam and two heads to sell. Did you get rid of any of the heads.

Make that two heads and two cams, the JCW head includes valve train and cam with only 18K miles, now I will have to put a package price for the Wegner head with 400 miles and Schrick cam

here's a crappy, non-scanned copy of my printout.

my only mods are jcw air box, helix 19%, and jcw 380cc injectors.

i had hoped for bigger gains (just like those pills i ordered from the int0r netz lol), but now, i feel my car drives the way it should have driven from the get go. i agree with PGT, mini's maps suck. my last dealer flash was a little over a year ago; i was never very pleased with it. but now, the car feels verrrrrry strong, and pulls from 2k, and just keeps pulling. i am very pleased with my investment.

the rmw tune by jan rocks, and driving my car has never been more fun.
thanks to jan, and thanks to eric and ralph from helix. bravo.

Was your baseline with GIAC software loaded?

Since you have 380 cc injectors, not sure why power falls off so much above 6600 RPM.

Unless you guys decided not to worry about what it did above 6600 because of the 19% pulley...

It's hilarious how frames of reference change. 190whp on a mustang is great for just intake, pulley, and injectors. But people like PGT set the bar too high.

And I'm really looking forward to my MINI driving like a hon-duh.
