Cost is in the $2000-2500 range, plus supporting mods. But nothing is final yet.

Will get that up ASAP!

This must have been a typo or you haven't matched up with a R-56 . Bone stock they will hand a moderatly modified r-53 it's butt. This mod should make them pretty much untouchable for most of our R-53's . Love my 53 but numbers don't lie.

^ You'd need a lot more than just the turbo. That's a good question for Alta though: Can you retrofit a Cooper to a S?

Curious though, and no offense meant... but why didn't you get an S in the first place?

lol i have neither a justacooper or the S...im just very interested in the mini and im considering one for my next car. i was thinking maybe it would be cheaper to get a justacooper then modding instead of getting a S and having to replace/waste the stock parts. Hmm if anyone can provide a link to a thread with the difference (parts, engine, suspension etc.) between the regular cooper and the cooper S it would be appreciated. thanks

nvm guys i got the info i need by simply visiting the mini site...definitely not worth modding a justacooper...cooper s is the way to go for performance.

That statement was meant as, the modification progress that the R56 has came already...Ex- The progress people made for the R53 when creating full turbo conversions, The Jesus Head, Rotrex, etc...

Not, a statement about performance head to head...

Sorry.

I think I understand your point now and agree. The r-56 development is quickly gaining momentum which is interesting to see as I took quite a bit of time for the R-53 pieces to get off the ground. Trust me i waited for a long time to find some good pieces. The heads were looked at from the beginning but late developments , tuning etc. are more recent . It actually took some outside brands to help us into new territory such as the Rotrex . In this case it took a honda pro , Oscar Jackson , to put his Rotrex background in use and make something for our car . I am curious as to why he didn't not continue to pursue that project but I am sure it will come out in due time. Maybe the turbo ( r -56 ) is the key to easier increase in power I really don't know . I am a supercharger guy and do not plan on switching anyway.

ALTA, can i ask why you decided to keep the stock manifold??

most other car markets, like the import guys, tend to ditch the restrictive stock manifolds forsomething that will flow better and make more power. often people find power just from swapping the manifold.

is there any plans to do a custom manifold later down the line??

Chris.

Yes, I am an R53 guy as well, and will not be switching. I do plan on ditching our Eaton and replacing it with a Garrett

My experience, all 5 minutes of it, is that big power, nice even torque is possible with a well tuned turbo. Excellent reliability, moderate power, smooth delivery is from a well tuned supercharger.

I think that Hubie Fuh of the old Fireball Tim Racing was putting together some sweet deals based on turbo only. If you can find Tul's on here he may have some info for you .

I have talked to Tuls a bit on here. I would use the Fireballed crew, but my system is going to be custom and I want to take pride in building it

Thanks for the info though.

Chris.

Any news on the release? I do have a question.... when you all got 270whp out of your big turbo mini, was it with your water injection kit to compliment it? If so, what did you all yield on straight pump? I'm asking because I'm interested in only using a 93 octane map.

Well thats not all it. I placed an order 2 weeks ago from ALTA. I ordered the stealth FMIC, turbo inlet hose, boost tube kit, boost gauge with pod. They replayed right away and said they will get back to me with the shipping cost's to my country. It has been 2 weeks now and they still didn't get back to me!!!!

I think i'll just go for the FORGE intercooler and intake and forget about ALTA's parts.

Alta has phenomenal customer service, if you have heard anything back they probably hit a glitch so give them the benefit of the doubt and contact them again. You might also want to post on the Alta Q & A thread as this is heavily monitored.

Again, Either pick up TELEPHONE or send the man a PM. My husband sent him a PM at almost 1 AM. Less than 5 minutes later, a call was received from Adam himself. So bad customer service huh?. Just learn how to communicate with people and you might just get it.
