Very nice stuff Jeff. I hope everyone that is ordering checked the LSD box on their Cooper S because with all that torque you're going to need it. Must be a blast to drive though

Any pricing talk yet? Also, when you start getting to high 200's and low 300's in power, what kind of bottom end upgrades will be necessary? Everything looks great so far....

Yes, the LSD is a necessary item!

Its not that the R53 is a bad car, but the turbo car really wins in almost all aspecs of the power band.

Well, we will let you know over time. Pistons would be my first guess. Generally engines are built with decent pistons, which are good for quite a bit of power, but not good for detonation! So at least pistons, which is something only the future will tell if and when we need them.

We are close to the 300WHP mark with Water injection, so it may not be long before we find the limits of the engine. But on a properly tuned engine, we think this should be just fine. Anytime you add 100WHP over stock, things start to happen.

Well, this isn't a solid price, but turbo kit only will be in the $2300. This does not include the intake, intercooler, boost tubes, catback, or Unichip.

More like MUB (Miles until it blows). In that case, 36 miles per blown engine.

It comes with a boost tube adapter. So the boost tube kit isn't totally needed, as your OEM hose will work. But from there you need the Turbo back Exhaust, FMIC, and Unichip. The CAI is not NEEDED, but it is recommended. If you add up all the parts on our car, the way you see it, it will be about $3100 plus the $2300 would be $5400. But that is just retail prices, i am SURE we will be far below that!

I want to get your CAI and cat-back and was planning on getting the boost tube and the ECU later on. So if later I want to get the turbo kit, i will have to add the down pipe and the FMIC, right? Just want to get an idea of how much money I need to save for all the mods.

Also the turbo kit comes with boost tube adapter, so does that mean i would be wasting my money on the boost tube?

Thanks for the clarification.

It is the adapter, but it is what makes the kit so simple, durable, and easy to install. When we were trying to figure out where the turbo goes, it truly fit best about where the OEM turbo sits. So instead of an expensive manifold being made, this simple adapter was what we did. Because of the space constraints, we didn't feel it was worth trying to make fabbed manifold. Or add alot more cost to the kit.

OK, a teaser for the Weekend!!

Our Water Injection tune got us 20WHP everywhere, and 15ft-lbs of torque. Wait until you see the graphs! This is at the same boost! Wait until 20psi!

Oh yeah? Well, I just pulled my KKK K24 upgraded turbo off my Porsche 996TT and put it on my MCS and added 175WHP and 150ft-lbs of torque. So there!

Yes, I'm kidding.

Well it certainly seems that if power is your motive, the R56 is definitely the way to go. This thread sort of makes all of the R53 banter over 10 hp here and there seem trivial. There are going to be some beasts on the streets in no time - good for alta and others who figure this out, and good for MINI owners.

Yes, power is our motive! The new R56 really is fun for us, because there isn't going to be those guys swapping different intakes out to gain 1-2 HP. They will just be turning up the boost!

More fun to come next week.

Jeff I forgot to mention it before leaving work, but THANK YOU for getting this up and posted today! Otherwise the natives would have been restless all weekend!

Guys and gals, my goal is to have the kits prices ASAP (likely next week) then schedule delivery to clients in January. I can say that Jeff has worked VERY hard in recent weeks on the little details on this kit so it will be well sorted and good to go when released.

This was our runs on our R56 with all of our bolt ons, but NO Unichip tune. So stock boost levels (kind of), and a rather tame 200WHP. If you compare our turbo kit to this setup (which is still beyond what most people have), it wins everywhere beyond 3000rpm. This might look bad on a graph, but who drives below 3000 RPM!




This is my favorite one. Not that the SC R53 is not a fun and fast car, but check this out! 60-70WHP gain from 4000rpm on up, and nearly 100ft-lbs of torque that might be noticeable! The only thing that the R56 needs is a little RPM! Then it will really compare.


why are the gear ratio's on all three dyno's different? 4.100, 5.692 and 5.500. shouldn't 4th gear runs =6.100

Pencil me down for a Turbo Kit and Water Injection when they are ready to ship :impatient . Don't forget to throw in a "ALTA'D" badge in the mix to complete the mod.

Good job guys and nice talking to you on the phone the other evening. Finally read up on the water injection system after you explained it. COOL.

Also put me down for the ALTA gauge pod for Boost, Water and Oil gauges . Talk to you next week.
