I need some help to prove our cars!

So the guys at Evolution Motorsports in PHX are running a dyno shootout in December. They are looking for 1 VW, 1 Audi, and 1 BMW based car to put on the dyno. I know I am not the only big HP number MINI out there, but being one of 2 turbo conversions in AZ, I am hoping the NAM membership will help me out and vote for my car so I can prove just how strong our cars can be.

You have to register on VW Vortex to post and to vote, but if you could please take 2 minutes to help me beat out the M3s and other BMW based cars for that spot. I have attached the original post from the vortex and a link to the thread to make it as easy as possible for you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, myself and EVOMS would like to thank all of you who came to November’s First Thursday! It was an amazing start to more great things to come!

As we promised before, we will be doing a dyno shootout, but with a twist… [insert appropriate suspenseful music here] We will have each brand elect a “Horsepower Spokesman” to go against the other brands. So we will have one Volkswagen, one BMW and one Audi. [/suspenseful music] This will start some friendly competition, and give people someone to root for!

We will top off the night with a dyno showcase of one of our in-house shop cars, as it is not everyday that you see a car making loads of power, and it is even more of a rarity to see one on a dyno!

Remember… the person who you elect is the person who will be giving your brand bragging rights until the next shootout! So choose wisely!

The details:
We would like to have the 3 cars that are going to be run on the dyno at EVO and ready by 7pm. As it does take a considerable amount of time to get each car ready, we do not want to be here until the wee hours of the morning dynoing cars! There will be only 3 or 4 cars to run on the dyno on the evening of the 6th, no exceptions. There will be no fee for the elected cars to dyno, as their peers have chosen them. There will be a $40 charge for each car if they want their dyno printout. The prize for the winning car is a surprise, and will be unveiled the night of the meet.

Lets open this up for discussion on who ya'll want to elect... I'll put up some suggestions, then I will keep track of the most popular people! The top choice from each brand will be chosen...

VW:
1. Nacho (6 votes) MkIV Jetta GLI with T3 60-1
2. Matt (4 votes) MkIII Jetta VR6T
3. Brandon (azsightsound) R34 Turbo'd like a **** (3 votes)
4. Freddy (2 votes) GLI with Bolt-Ons
5. Keith (1 vote) GTI with Bolt-Ons
6.

BMW:
1. Jim (4 votes) Horsepower Freaks Stg 1 Turbo'd E46 M3
2. AZMCS (3 votes) Built Motor and GT2871r
3. Stephen (1 vote) VFE Stg 1 Supercharged E46 M3
4.

Audi:
1. Grifnsquest (2 votes) B5 S4 with K04s
2.
3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the thread link:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3538055

Just make a quick SN and let them know we can put down with the best of them. I have not dyno'd the car since it was built so this is a chance to see what it can do on 109 octane race gas and 30psi I am hoping for 400+ at the wheels.

Also, as many of the local crowd as can should come out and prove to the EVOMS guys that we roll deep and are interested in a high end shop starting to cater to us

BTW, here's a shot of what the car is looking like these days:

Oh, wait, that is the important parts, here's the car

Thanks in advance for the help and the votes.
-Joel

I'll be signing up later tonight to support you. I would much rather see you go up against the Audi and VW than the M3's. I really want people to know what our cars can do!

Gracias man. Really hoping to shock those guys who have twice the displacement as us.....I am sure I won't "WIN" as I know the R32 that will probably win, but it will still be cool to see the looks on everybodies faces.....

Thanks for copying my rolling shot butthead... I would vote for you but...honestly, HP's M3 is pushing 750HP. As fast as you are....your low on the totum pole....lol BTW, you might grab the AUDI spot but I think you lost the BMW/VW spot....sorry homey.

Whatever

Let's use some math here. E46 with a 3.2L V6 puts out 333bhp stock. A MCS puts out of its wee 1.6L 4cyl 168bhp.

Now if he is putting 750 to the wheels thats about 250% of stock WHP. If I put down 400 to the wheels thats about 260% of stock....sounds better to me...If you go by hp/liter it is an even bigger gap....

Sure the number is bigger but the starting point to that number is what the "winner" is gonna be figured on......

Taking that approach even my buddies .:R putting 480 all wheel down would "lose" to me......

Thanks for the vote though Justine

The standard of measurement for this contest should be the total horsepower to weight ratio of each car - 700 hp is impressive no matter what, but it would be much more impressive on a 2,600 pound MINI than a 3,500 pound BMW.

Another valid measurement tool. It isn't up to me, but I am pretty sure they are gonna use the delta of modded whp/stock whp...

"but if you could please take 2 minutes"

If you get sucked into the vortex like I did, 2 minutes isn't enough............but I voted for you.

my best advice is to go dyno it again so you know for sure what your car is doing before showing up and finding out something is wrong

Thanks for the advice Jan, but the car runs flawlessly. AFRs nice and stable, pulls all the way hard and I have a good idea of what it makes as the guys at Fireballed tend not to overestimate and other than the fuel rail, Brian's car and mine are almost identical.....will let you know how it turns out

Have you ever ran it through the 1/4?? Just curious as to what that kind of HP/TQ would do.

I haven't as it is my DD.....maybe here in the near future when I have a spare vehicle and frying a clutch by dropping it at 4k rpms doesn't cost me income......

They need to update the vote count, you have quite a few votes now.

...lots of one post votes won't raise any suspicion will it?

Nah....I think I have the ground swell now....I will certainly pony up for the printout so you guys can see what is does....here's hoping they calculate the winner based on hp/liter...should be close to 250/liter!!!
