oh yeah, and an improperly welded crank with fracture and brake. With the chrome it could cause hydrogen imbrittlement, and i forget if that would also cause the crank to fracture or what (this is why chorme suspension was banned in racing in the 50s...). And, if the crank is nitrided, that a whole nother can of worms, cause if it is, you have to grind threw the nitride before chromeing or welding other wise you will have a contaminated weld or chome, neither of which is very nice. Beecher, i know, not exactly what you want to hear, but what can you do? Its an independed view from someone with the background to know, and does not have hammer looking at your nail. hahah.

what ever happened hear buddy? what did you do to fix it? what did you find our about the crank?

well in taking in everyones advice, i just picked up a used shortblock from chris... I still have the old crank and i also have another crank too that i kinda got screwed on some guy tried to sandblast and screwed up the journals... got 3 cranks and 3 motors in my garage now =) need one???

i wish you haddnt told me that!!!! Would love one, but not right now, been buying too much other stuff. Glad to hear you got your car fixed yet. The other reason is that i called my friend the other day and he wanted to know how it turned out, he likes to know the current manufacturing process in the OEM world, and their idea of fixes. I do wish i could buy one from you right now tho...

well i dont know what they go for... i was gonna sell my old block and crank to Jan but he's been super busy with stuff and shows you know, the business world... plus i would kinda like to keep one extra block to build a stroker... what would the old crank be worth? 100 bucks??

if jan has done a couple of strokers, he must have the stock cranks on hand . will he sell you one ?
