I currently fitted the Alta CAI version and looking for strut bar.

The previously strut bar i used cant used after i fit alta CAI because the CAI block the way of strut bar.

Anyone got any suggestion on that?

Thanks

This is the mother of all strut bars (GTT Tuning, UK). Not sure how well it fits with Alta CAI though...and might cost an arm and leg to import:-)

I like the GTT unit, but the only downfall I see it that you have to remove it to change the filter and perhaps the plugs.

With an M7 I have to remove the center section to get the oil filter off. I don't think removing the GTT would be much of a problem. Six nuts & it's off in maybe 3 minutes.

If your using the open top Alta - some just cut the sides to allow the strut bar to pass thru. If your using the Alta CAI w/ top then put your old one up for sale and contact vendors to see if theirs will fit over the Alta.

You don't have to cut the sides of the Alta CAI box to fit the M-7, just notch the rubber seal on one side. I don't have the closed top Alta CAI but, I think I saw posted that the M-7 clears the closed top as well.

No mods required for the CravenSpeed CAI and M7 strut bar.

you'll like the m7 bar. it also prevents mushrooming. and removing the center section during oil change is super easy

Do you feel that the front strut bars really make a difference? I've heard more emphasis placed on getting a rear sway bar instead.

Thoughts....

I'm on the side that feels the strut bar is simply bling. That being said, the rear sway bar will definately be more noticeable. About the M7 tower bar, stoping mushrooming is good, so I have their reinforcement plates.

I have the m7 with the Alta, no notch needed-it fit perfectly. I did, however, have to remove the box top. In my car there was no way it would fit, not even close.

+1 on it being mostly bling, but bling is not always a bad thing if done correctly. Many consider the bonnet stripes on the MINI as bling...

Those who say that haven't tried the GTT one

Many at MINI2 - the undersigned included - can confirm that the difference is noticeable. Just reversing down a deep parking ramp and turning at the same time is enough to feel the difference. It is one solid piece of metal without any moving parts thus minimum flex - it makes many others look flimsy in comparison.

But, I partly agree with nabeshin: most of them are of cosmetic value only. I was originally not going to buy one for this very same reason.

As far as changing the filter: yup, it is necessary to remove the brace. But it is just 2 x 3 nuts and it is off. Even with my mechanical skills it won't take more than 3-4 minutes.

I went with the OMP upper and lower braces. The OMP upper uses the sides of the strut towers to brace against. Once it's on you can pre-load the bar before tightening down the strut bots.

The combo made a real difference you can feel. It also works with my Alta just fine.

For handling, the rear anti-sway bar much more beneficial than the strut bar.

I have the H-Sport 22MM Comp. Bar. Usually keep it in middle setting.
