No gain on bottom end after pulley install

Just got my Mini a little over a month ago, first mod was a "cold" air intake from mini madness. I loved the way this improved throttle response off idle b/c it got rid of that annoying hesitation when you first touch the throttle. (every mini i test drove had this so thats why im assuming its normal) So i just installed a 16% pulley from M7 and the hesitation is back! It also feels like it pulls the same as before when its below 3k rpm but above that its a screamer, kinda reminds me of one of my 2-stroke dirtbikes. I am going to get the next range colder plugs tomorrow but other than that im not sure what to do. Is this typical of how this motor pulls?

I know that when I did cai, pulley and cat back the car was ok but the GIAC flash really pulled it all together and made a huge difference. There are lot more options now available for in the area of tunes now.

Yeah, it is kinda normal. The supercharger really starts to get the boost out over 3000-3500 rpm.

The '03 MCS takes some trickery to make it launch well. The later versions are better, but it is still a 1.6L. Maybe software is the answer?

To some extent yes. Less so for the 2005 and later MCS.

+1 on an ECU tune of some sort. I need a tune myself. Custom tunes on dynos turn out very well. Many threads exist on different custom tuners and the results.

Yep, as all have mentioned, you will need some sort of remap to get the most across all ranges with your upgrades. I used MTH to do mine and love the torque that I get at the lower RPM range.

Yep - and there is little to be done to get noticeable gains below that.
