They sure fooled me. Thanks for the information and advice. Since it's not chrome, I'll see how long the shine lasts. If it starts to dull up, I might have it powder coated black.

Mine's mounted fine the way it is now with the hanger holder turned 90 degrees. And after driving mine a bit today, it does stick out farther after driving. It eventually makes it's way back in. I still love it though.

Yeah, please post some pics. I want to see how it looks.

Nice improvement. That's what I was going to do to mine if Ireland hadn't come out with a new tip. Actually a friend had suggested to put a cut in the "fake" tip which would allow it to be bent upward, thus aligning both tips correctly, then have the cut welded with stainless. I now see it would have looked good, but I'm happy with the big mouth. Thanks for sharing the shots. Looks real good, however, what did you do to your skid plate?

Thanks man. The skid plate is epoxy yellow coated but had to be trimmed to clear the 2.75 inches pipe of the IE. I am going to trim it straight to look even or just remove it totally. Re: the alignment of the right tip, it frustrates me that IE overlooked this but the slash cut now actually cheated the perception a bit. The sound is good and I have lined up for the MegaMynes Header that will probably make it meaner sounding.

Ohhhh, I just remembered, I don't have my skidplate on. I never even tried to put it back on after the initial install of the Ireland. You'rs just threw me off a bit. I too was kind of upset that Ireland overlooked the alignment. I actually thought mine was the only one because I was under the impression that each one was hand built and I figured I just got a bad one. To my surprise, they all look the same. I don't blame them though, after all, we paid half of what others paid for their big name brand exhausts. And Ireland Engineering seems to all about performance gains and not so much on the aesthetic side. Anyway, again, it looks good. I still have my dual tip in the event I change my mind, I now see that this would be best option.

Let's talk about this issue with the skid plate. The few we have installed have not needed to cut the skid plate only bend it a little flat near the back edge to clear the tip. What have others done or run into? Your feed back will be shared with IE. Thanks Dustin

Mine touches the pipe and even moreso if the tip is pushed inwards to make it less sticking out.
Re: the alignment, I was sold by the ad of IE that their cat-back has all the benefits of centering adjustment only to find out that the tips were welded slightly off-alignment.

Hey Dustin, to be honest, after I installed the Ireland, I never tried to put the skid plate back on. Not because I didn't think it would fit, but because I didn't see the need to put it back on. Plus I was in the market for a rear diffuser. I'll try to install my skidplate this weekend with the bigmouth just for feedback for you, but even if it fits, It'll come back off.

Ok.. phew.. long day, but just had the Ireland installed.. a few issues.. but... nothing major with the help of Dustin!!! Dustin.. thank you so much for being all over the problems we had installing... I do believe Dan ended up taking off.. about 1/2-1 inch of the tail pipe that goes into the resonator.. he turned the bracket.. did a bit of finessing... and then one quick other cut on the (im such a woman i dont know the name of the bracket.. but its in the center of the car) and she fit beautifully... the sound... well I am so happy with that low burbly growl .. love it love it love it! But I'll let Dustin be the judge lol when I catch up with him on the Dragon.. as far as the skid plate.. had to bend it up a bit.. but it fit with no issue.. lovin the look of the big mouth tail pipe!! Awesome.. and of course.. special special super special thanks to Dan of Grassroots Garage.. his patience, and him being meticulous was awesome.. highly recommend him to anyone in the area!!! Kudos!!!!
Ill take pics tomorrow.. the bigmouth tail pipe does stick out there a bit.. but I have a trailer hitch so its not so noticeable..
love that low burble growl pop!
And the other thing.. I do feel a better response.. a quicker pick up!! Im liking it.. and I am super happy with it, glad I took the leap and did it.. thanks guys for having this thread.. i had been lurking on it for awhile.. and then a short convo with Dustin on the phone, I had a feeling this exhaust was what I needed.. kudos to IE! Dan at Grassroots and Dustin!!! WooT Dustin, Dan said any dark beer and he is a happy guy!

Bump - because my exhaust is rotting away and I'm shopping (and have been looking at this one the most)

The IE site pic.s still show the dual tip outlet - are they back or just not updated?

EDIT: Just noticed it's backordered 'til May '10...

IE is very bad at not updating their site, so it's possible they are just showing the old tip. The best thing is to call or e-mail them directly. Oh, and still love my exhaust!!!!!

Well, I ordered my plug wires at the beginning of Feb. I ended up having to e-mail to check on the order when it got into March. Just call or e-mail to make sure. They used to be real good about their orders.

True enough, got an email back this AM. Jeff said "OK" to my request for the single tip, and that the systems were on back order (May-ish). But that's ok, knew that going in, was posted on site.

Got spring mod fever...

I got an email back from Jeff (Apr 5) - still B/O 'til May -
The "big mouth" tip is not normally included but we'll include it for an additional $40

The extra $40 is worth it, although I was under the assumption that IE totally replaced the tip with the big mouth. Once you see the two tips side by side, you'll wonder why they just didn't make the big mouth to start with.

That's cool. But I want my junk to stick like Speedbuggy! Roomazoomzoom!

Yea I love mine as well other than needing to mod the tip some.

I will say that it leaks and makes a buzz at high RPM around the clamps. Might have to weld it on.

I notice carbon seeping out as well. Welding isn't a bad idea.

If the slip joints are leaking try this:

http://store.blackforestindustries.com/wuexpa.html

I have used it on VWs in the past and it seals the slip joint as good as welding but still allows disassembly when required......
