What kind of numbers should I expect?

I'm about to start modding my R53's motor. I already ordered a Dinan exhaust, Alta 15% pulley, Alta CAI, Screaming Demon coil with Nology Wires and Alta air diverter. What kind of spark plugs should I use? What numbers should I expect (torque-HP)?

Denso iridium plugs are some of the best plugs you will find. But, be prepared to spend for them.

Just Dyno'd my car last weekend. I ran 173.39hp and 165.62 torque. You can see my mods in my sig. Temp was 67 F and humidity was at 57%. They were using a Dynojet machine but even with all this info you will find that numbers are all over the place even with the same mod's. For me, it's just a base line to see what improvements there might be with other mod's. Oh wait, my wife just told me that there will be no other mod's. I will add softwear and injectors some day.

Sounds low to me. Doesnt the MCS start around about 155whp or something? I really dont remember but i would expect better gains with what you have planned.

My goal is 170 - 180 hp for now... What else should I do to reach this goal?

Here's a comprehensive dyno test of stock MINIs that we did last weekend.

I ran the car in 4th. I see that you ran the cars in 5th. I had read from many people that we should dyno our cars in 4th. ? When I went to this shop they were asking me what gear and what read line and so on of course I had no idea. I would have loved to have been at a shop that really had experiance with our cars. I'll have a chance to run the car again in two weeks. Is it your opion that I should run again in 5th ? and if so, what kind of gains should I see (of course it will depend on weather conditions).

I'd stick with the stock plugs for now. I've seen aftermarket plugs blow out and take the head threads with them. unless of course you want to replace the head. there's lots of power to be had there. how much money do you have?????

That might be a little low, but my MINI dyno'd at 141whp stock... I have not dyno'd it since the mods, but I do want to. I've been told I should be ~185ish (whp).

Dynojet recommends running the car in the closest gear to a 1:1 gear ratio. In most cases, that's one gear from the top. Fifth gear on six-speed cars, fourth on five-speed cars. That applies for 2WD cars. For AWD, we run them one gear lower because the load is twice as much.

Interesting, is this a common practice with AWD tuning or just something unique to your shop and perhaps a few others?

Which, the lower gear for AWD? Common practice. Otherwise, your dyno run will be really really LOOOOOONG, since the car is trying to spin up the equivalent of TWO car's worth of load.
