What I have found so far

Well for those that are interested. I am getting a 30 degree temp drop across the OCC. The black garbage is gone from my exhaust tips, it looks like mpg has gone up by 1.6 and I have no way to monitor it but the performance has increased.

Thanks, believe it or not it was all scrap from our metal bin at work, I just machined it into what was in my head. I wanted deeper fins, but because of space and materials I shortened them. But it seem to be cooling like I wanted it to. I also have a drain tube and connection that is still to go on. You will be able to drain it from the engine compartment with a quick connect fitting.

Interesting! I had never heard a comment that an OCC would stop the tailpipe soot... maybe your unique design? It looks great!

Anyone care to hypothesize on how this OCC might be making this change?

That's the nicest looking OCC install I have ever seen. You should market your kit. The SS tubing is a real step up from the norm. Great Job!

Most cans just allow the volumetric air flow to slow down allowing the vapors to drop out. But adding a filter medium it increases the efficiency. My though was from dealing with engines and oil vapor if I could drop the temp of the vapor it would allow the oil to coalesce at a higher rate creating less vapor carry over. Thats my thoughts, less oil being burned less soot. I try to be good in my mini but every once and a while I get on it and that funny smell is gone now too.

Thank alot, I am thinking about it, I just want to make sure it works the way I want it to work. One big reason and there are others but I use SS tubing because it got old going into shucks, autozone, napa etc. trying to asked them for the type of hose I wanted. You know a Mini is not just a car, its a lot more, everything from a daily driver to a race car. You should have seen the looks when all I wanted is black bolts for my plates.
